Good Music Endures, August 11, 2011

The Sting revived interest in Scott Joplin's compositions back in the the early 1970s. This is very old music but time has not eroded it or compromised its merit. Transcribing Joplin's music to an acoustic guitar was a great idea and Carlos Barbosa Lima, a very accomplished and highly talented guitarist, has done an outstanding job here. If you enjoy acoustic guitar or Scott Joplin's music, I would not hesitate to recommend this CD. It's solo, unadorned, guitar, that is played beautifully and is performed in a manner that is faithful to the original compositions. I purchased it on vinyl when it was originally released. The CD adds two more songs that would not fit well on the original because of the physical limitations of a vinyl LP.
