Biography

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Neil Hagerty honed his subversive approach to rock over the course of two decades in two of the underground's most prominent bands. In the '80s, he fueled Pussy Galore's anti-rock cacophony and blurred the boundaries between avant-noise and classic rock as one half of Royal Trux in the '90s. Hagerty also made a name for himself as a witty, if somewhat chaotic, satirist… Read more in Amazon's Neil Michael Hagerty Store

Editorial Reviews

The second solo album from former ROYAL TRUX guitar degenerate NEIL HAGERTY, and another flight of goodtime rock'n'roll fancy. Joined by his touring group - percussionists TIM BARNES and SEVEN, and bassist DAN BROWN, as well as guests SUSAN VOELZ (violin), EDITH FROST, and the MIGHTY FLASHLIGHT - Neil goes all out with a blend of outer-limits country, soulifed R&B, and inside-out rock'n'roll sounds.

4.0 out of 5 stars Hagerty is back!!, July 27, 2002
This review is from: Plays That Good Old Rock & Roll (Audio CD)
This is a real loose rock n roll album that seems to be permanently on the verge of colapse, much in the same way as the best trux stuff and reminisant of Alex Chiltons "like flies on sherbert".The songs shoot off in freeform directions but always return to good old rock n roll. The best thing Hagerty's done since Accelerator.

5.0 out of 5 stars This was, despite some earnest naysayers, the Best of 2002, February 28, 2003

... This record is magnificent. Yes, it's a little on the short side, but I kinda like that, personally. It's all about quality not quantity. And "Rockslide", in a more perfect world, would have the THE Hit Single of the Year of Our Lord 2002 CE. Anyway, buy this ... and line Hagerty's and Drag City's pockets with reams of cold hard cash.

Remember, "Only God can rescue (you)" - NMH

4.0 out of 5 stars Standout second solo release from the Hag!, February 25, 2002

This is a very good rock and roll album. It's got Neil Hagerty's signature sound collage style of production all over it, but it also has a live, jammy sort of feel to it. Hagerty and his band really get down on a couple of numbers in that snakey guitar boogaloo that characterized so much of Royal Trux's material. On a couple of songs he even sings with a female backing vocalist, in place of jennifer herrema no doubt.
