When I purchased this doll, I knew exactly what I was getting. A doll. No batteries and therefore no flashing lights or beeping. etc. It's just a doll. So I didn't expect it to be a toy that would be used for extended play sessions. However, the doll has an oversized zipper, button, snap, buckle and velcro tab that are great for little hands. And when our little boy does decide to pick it up, he has a great time trying to master each of the different dressing items on the doll. He plays with it a few minutes each day on average, which in my opinion is a reasonable amount of time for a young child to spend trying to master a task. I've seen other types of dolls that serve the same purpose, but for a boy this doll is perfect. It's adorable, but still very "boyish". And for those of you with boys, you can understand how hard it is to find some types of toys such as this that aren't overly feminine in appearance.
I recommend this item for any parent wishing to find a fun way to teach dressing skills.

we bought Dapper Dan to help our daughter learn how to zip & unzip, snap, use velcro, etc. It has fewer things to do than we thought and I just don't think it was well designed. The hood fits too snuggly so it is too difficult to put on, etc..

Bought both Dapper Dan and Dressy Betsy as a gift knowing full well that not only are these two wonderful for cuddling but also for helping little hands develop the skills for being able to get dressed independently. These are subtle teaching tools which invite involvement and hugging. I would get these again and again for the appropriately aged child. There is no sexism to giving these either to a boy or girl.

We got this for our 22 month old for Christmas. He's interested in dressing himself and thought that this toy would help him. Dapper Dan also keeps our son occupied in the mornings when he wakes up early. I did however wish there was a "tie" on one of the shoes. Either way, super cute and a great learning tool!

This toy brought back so many memories of the one we had when we were young. It's a great gift to give to a boy, especially because boys don't typically get dolls. My nephew has really enjoyed it as a way to work on his motor skills, curiosity and even getting a doll to practice nurturing. I love Dan!

My Grandson just loved the Dapper Dan doll. He is 20 months old and has a new baby brother. Dapper Dan gives him a chance to sit and work on the learning of snaps, zipper, buckle, button, and velcro while mommy nurses the new baby. I'm very satisfied with the purchase of this item

Bought this toy for my grandson (just over 1 year old). He loves to play with the ties and buckles and such on clothing. Thought this would be just the thing for him. I was right/ he loves it. I guess this Gramma knows a thing or two.

My 2 year old nephew was not interested in this at all. He usually enjoys buckling things but Dapper Dan was too boring for him. It's pretty small in size and not very colorful.

Dapper Dan was a hit with my 2-year-old nephew, who especially liked that both he and Dan had monkeys on their shirts. So Dan became an instant hit. Dan has so far been unsuccessful in teaching anyone to tie their shoes, button anything, etc., but he still has an honored place in the toy box, similar to the neighborhood friend who randomly sleeps on your couch.

My grandson loves his Dapper Dan. He is 21 months old and shortly after receiving Dan he has mastered button and zip, plus Dan goes everywhere with him. Even takes flying leaps down the slide! My son also had one when he was this age and learned the different tasks quickly, so I would recommend this to all.
