The problem is that the Sit and Spin is slow.

This is made of extremely cheap plastic and does not spin well at all.

I was hoping this would be as fun for my 3-year-old as the original Sit-N-Spin was for me in the early 80's. It doesn't come close to the quality. It's lighter weight and he had a hard time spinning it. I thought maybe he just hadn't gotten the hang of it. I got on e-bay and saw that the originals were selling on average for $50 but found one with torn stickers for $25. We got it in the mail and he started spinning fast right away and has been having fun with it all week. I love the sound of the old ones. These new ones just don't compare in the least. Big disappointment.

I used to play on my friends sit and spin when I was a kid, so I thought my almost 2 year old daughter would like it too. I got her on it and she tried to spin and moved about 2 or 3 inches. I tried to spin her to no avail. It just isn't fun and I plan on taking it back.

I was so excited to see the return of the classic Sit and Spin. I'd heard the musical one was loud and annoying and just wanted the simple model for my daughter. It arrived promptly and it took minimal time and effort to assemble.

The problem is that the Sit and Spin is slow. So slow my daughter isn't interested in it. The inside bearing it too tight and won't allow it to spin like it should. However, this isn't something you can adjust yourself. I plan to call Playskool and complain but already threw away the outer box so I'm not sure what my return options are to Amazon.

The original Sit and Spin was fast and fun. This toy is so slow that it's more of a sit and turn. Overall I am very disappointed in this toy. If it's made to spin this slowly, what's the point?

This product just does not spin with any child on it. I could barely push my 2 year old around when she sat on it. Bad Product Do Not Buy!! The only reason I gave it a 3star on educational is that my son said "Daddy, this doesn't work! This is the worst toy ever." He learned a good lesson. Amazon was great about returning it though.

Do not buy this- you will only be disappointed. This is NOT the sit n spin of YOUR childhood (1970's). This is made of extremely cheap plastic and does not spin well at all. We actually returned ours and bought a used one from ca 1975 on ebay. Obviously this toy is a classic, but do yourself a favor and go find a used classic, because the new ones are junk.

This is the first review I've ever written on Amazon. I guess I've been fortunate enough to never before have seen a product quite so bad as this.
Just put this together for my 2 1/2 year old. He seemed pretty psyched about it as we were putting it together, but this is not the same as the original Sit & Spins at all. It's cheaply made, and doesn't spin properly, regardless of the surface we tried. I recall that the original was made of a hard plastic, and ran on steel ball bearings. This product uses a softer plastic, and doesn't have any ball bearings. When he tries to turn the handle, it simply flexes and bends instead of turning the seat. I'm not sure what Playskool was thinking when they put this design into production. It is going back in the box, and back to the retailer.

Don't waste your time or money.

My husband and I both loved this toy when we were little, so we got our 3 year old one for his birthday. Well, this is not the same toy. It simply does not work. The pieces do not fit correctly, because it is made from such flimsy plastic. There is warping and thus too much friction when a kid tries to spin. I thought we just had a defective toy, but now that I see reviews I'm not going to bother with a replacement, just a refund.
Terrible! I am so disappointed.

My wife and I had a hard time believing the reviews here that said this toy is a dud, so we bought one anyway for our son. Guess what? It's a dud. They've somehow rigged it to make it very difficult to make it spin. I imagine it's a liability issue, with our society being so much more litigious than it was when we were children. Anyway, the slow spin doesn't create the same experience and makes the toy pretty boring for all the kids in the neighborhood that have tried it because they have to pull too hard to get the thing to move at all (and it never really gets going).
