5.0 out of 5 stars Best flashlight for kids!
This is a great flashlight for the little ones! I got tired of never having a flashlight with working batteries and got my son this one for his 1st birthday and could not have made us both happier! He has had it for almost a year now and we haven't replaced the batteries, yet, which is really surprising because it is used every night at bedtime. He loves to shine...

1.0 out of 5 stars Piece of junk. Worked for 5 minutes then died
Nice idea, especially the automatic shutoff.

Ours worked for 5 minutes of fun, then died. No way to get at the bulb or anything to check it. Pretty disappointing gift.

He loves to shine it around his room to peek at the 'sleeping' stuffed animals before he drifts off to sleep. I would highly recommend this for any age child who is able to grasp the handle to keep the light on - since there aren't any loose parts to come off and cause a choking hazard I believe it is safe for the 'under 3 years' group. The battery compartment has a cover that attaches with a screw - making it difficult even for Mom & Dad to get it off :o)

My kids both have one of these. I bought my oldest hers about 7 years ago, and it still works! It's pretty sturdy. It's great on batteries, too - I think we've replace the batteries two or three times in 7 years, that's it. My kids love these. I love that I don't have to get on to them about turning them off - the lights turn themselves off.

Both of my children love this toy. It has survived a lot of abuse (including falling out of a moving car), and it doesn''t chew up the batteries either, so it's economical to run. The "auto-off" feature is nice - you move a switch forward on the handle to "turn it on", but the light won't shine unless you're holding it by the handle (and if you put it down, it dims and turns itself off in 30 seconds or so). There's a little 'wheel' that allows the child to make the light turn either green or red, in addition to white light. I highly recommend it!

We purchased this on Amazon for our than 2.5 year old son. At 3.5...a whole year later, he still likes playing with it. It has held up to a very active little boys rough play, with its durable plastic and large buttons. It doesn't hog batteries like some flashlights. It goes out after awhile, rather than burn the night away inside your child's covers AFTER they have fallen asleep. It has a fun nob that creates 2 extra colors to play with. It is bright enough to really USE in the dark. The model we have is not the white one, it is bright yellow. This is a really nice little flashlight for kids. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for rainy day tent making, October 18, 2000

My kids all love this flashlight, not only because it glows green, red, or white, but because it is perfect for using under blanket tents or even to make shadow puppets with. I love it because it is super durable and turns itself off after a few minutes of nonuse. It took me awhile to figure out that you had to continually press the bar underneath to keep it lit...but this auto shutoff is a great feature!!! I knew that it would last due to the playschool name and it has outlasted many other toys and is used often. It will be a big hit in ANY household.

5.0 out of 5 stars Mom & Dad don't search for theirs anymore!, January 21, 2000

I purchased two flashlights as Christmas gifts for my four-year-old nieces and have gotten positive reviews back from both my sister and sister-in-law. Both have mentioned that they're happy that the little girls aren't taking the grown-ups' flashlight anymore so that Mom and Dad aren't hunting around for it when they need it. It's made bedtime easier on both little girls as it helps them feel less afraid when they're alone in the dark. And both moms have reported that their daughters have played with the flashlight almost every day since getting it. Highly recommended!

We had to buy this flashlight because our kids always took ours to play with and would later take them apart and lose pieces. In case of power outage...we were ususally searching for candles. This flashlight is great! It cannot easily be taken apart...must have screwdriver and patience. Very durable, survives tumbles and drops down stairs, 2 small boys and periodic grabbing. Is easy for 2-3 yr olds to use and change light colors. Turns off after a while to save you on batteries. Who could ask for more?

my 2 year old nephew absolutely *adores* flashlights. he enjoys crawling under tables and beds looking for anything that might be a bug. so when i saw this flashlight on amazon, i thought it was time he had one of his own.

it is a good fit for little hands -- esp. the on/off switch on the handle and the switch on the side that can change colors quite easily. it also held up to being dropped a few times. another nice feature is the automatic "off" -- there is a bar on the handle that, when squeezed, will allow the flashlight to stay on for a short period. then it turns itself off. that was one of the features that attracted me -- batteries can be *very* expensive!

don't overlook buying batteries when you purchase this flashlight -- batteries are not included. *:)

My three year old daughter just got this one for Christmas and she loves it, but the button that she has to press to keep the light on has to be pushed very hard and most of the time it shuts off on her. In fact, sometimes I find it hard to turn on again. I wonder if I got a dud? Still, she loves the color change feature, which she can use just fine, and the thing has stood up to several big drops already (not to mention a nasty banging with her new skates). Overall a good toy, especially for bigger kids who have the strength for the mechanism.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth the money, November 16, 2002

Kids love flashlights. I looked at this flashlight back when my firstborn was only two because he absolutely LOVED flashlights. At the time I thought the price was too steep, especially since I could get one of those cheaper small flashlights for about 1/3 the cost. After going through two of those (stupid) I finally realized that kids also love DISMANTLING flashlights almost as much as they love playing with them. THEN, still being stubborn and silly, I got what I figured was a TAMPER PROOF flashlight, and discovered that kids almost always forget to turn off flashlights. In the end, after two broken cheap flashlights, and lots of run down batteries, I "gave in". I bought two of these, one for my 4.5 year old, and one for my year old, and they are a hit. The batteries are still going strong, and the flashlights themselves have survived drops, bumps, crashes, and a curious 4 year old with a screw driver, and still remained intact. My son sleeps with his every night, and this is, simply, one of the most popular toys in my house hands down.

Definitely worth the money, and a great toy.
