The music is obnoxiously loud and with no volume control or off button I was worried about my son's hearing. So I tried to put duct tape over the speaker which had little results, so I ended up disconnecting the speaker. Don't waste the extra money on the sound feature buy the classic.

We love this sit and spin and our kids have been using it for around three years. My son has mild sensory issues and used to spin around and around the house before we got this. The sit and spin gave him a safe place to spin. We never put batteries in this toy because we did not want it to make noise. It is strictly for spinning. I am glad we didn't add the batteries after reading the other review. My son now weighs around 55 lbs, he spins as fast as he can, and this toy has held up for us. It gets daily use at our house from both my kids.

I purchased this for our 1 yr old and 3 yr old and it's horrible. The 3 yr old can barely even get it to spin and the 1 yr old loves to push the buttons to make the obnoxious music play (with no volume control). They still love to sit on it together and try and make it spin though. Nothing like my memories of spinning till I was sick as a child.

Remember the old school sit and spins that we had as kids? They were easy to spin and SO FUN! I put this together for my son and was so disappointed b/c it is almost impossible to spin. If, as an adult, cannot spin it, how can my 2 year old? Some of the reviewers on here hated the music. That didn't bother me so much, but yes, a volume control would have been nice. I'm returning this item as soon as possible.

Okay the function of the toy is fine, the yellow part spins around like it's supposed to. Overall the toy seems to be made of a cheap thin plastic, unlike the older sit and spins. The worst part is, the MUSIC! No nice sing along kids songs here, they have disco songs or something on here and they are all horrible. I put the batties in, pushed the buttons on top to hear the different songs and took the batteries right back out again. Unbearable! Maybe disco is supposed to be coming back with today's toddlers?? I hope not! We are taking this back and trying the Simon Says Sit and Spin, but it's made by Playskool too so who knows if it is going to be any better! Ack!

Believe the bad reviews and save your money. I didn't think this toy could be as bad as the negative reviews made it seem, since this toy has been around so long and they keep making it, but it turns out this is the worst toy I've ever gotten for my two year old daughter. I thought she would enjoy it because she liked the teacups at Disneyland so much. She was so excited to see it and waited patiently for me to assemble it. Then she took a seat and tried spinning. It didn't budge. She tried again turning as hard as she could, but it barely budged. There are no ball bearings, so with the weight of a child, it can barely move. The toy spins great if you put some stuffed animals on and give it a whirl, however this is not what I bought it for so I will be returning it.

We bought this toy for our 2 year old son and we were very disappointed with it.The music is the worst I have every heard coming from a toy - ever. Both the choice of music is horrible, but it also sounds terrible. To loud but also muffled. It shocks me that any company would put their name on a product that would sound like this. It is also really hard to put together and my husband puts things together for a living, so hard for him says a lot. We made the mistake of giving it to our son before we tried it ourselves to make sure it does indeed spin, it does not. My son has a very hard time getting it to move more than a few inches from one side to the other. I tried to help him by spinning him on the sit and spin and it works a bit better, but no were near a full rotation. Giving what this toy should do, I call this a complete failure. My son does enjoy pulling his animals on it and spinning them around like a merry-go-round and he makes me go for spins as well. I was not worried about breaking it so I climbed on. At 5'2 and 125 lbs I am able to fit and I can spin myself dizzy by pushing off the floor with my feet or hands but it is way to much trouble and not fun at all. It does not however seem like it would break under my weight. (Not that I recommend this of course.) I was not looking to work so hard to make a toy work for my son, so we took the sit and spin away but did not hide it well enough and my son found it and brought it back into the family room and we did not want to take it away from him again. We now call it the "sit and scream" because it upsets him that he can not make it move on his own the way I can, but he loves being pushed and watching me spin around, for a very long time in fact for his age. It also upsets him that the button on top where the music should come from does not work when he hits it. It is obvious to him that something should happen when he presses the top part so just removing the batteries may not work for some families. We have bought the "spin around" instead and will swap it for the "sit and spin" as soon as it arrives. I really hope it is better than the "sit and spin" This "sit and spin" had been the worst toy experience we have had so far, but I give it 2 stars because it did make my son happy and I guess other parents could just help push their children, esp if returning would be a hassle, but for me it is honestly too much work. My husband it NOT looking forward to getting this back in the box...

This is a far cry from the toy you or I grew up with.-Smaller in overall size -uses plastic rollers instead of bearings, so it's impossible for young kids to turn -handle stem is cheap cheap cheap. It really flexes when trying to make the thing turn, it will likely break with much use. Music isn't bad. My son enjoys it. He really WANTS to play with it, it just means I have to do the work and spin him around. My son can do pullups and is pretty strong, and he simply can't get it to move at more than a snail's pace. The one I grew up with would go blazing fast. ;-) This was a huge disappointment, glad that we only paid $16 for it a while back. Find a classic one and you won't regret it.

When my children were small they would spend hours going round and round on their Sit n Spin. I have wanted to buy one for my grandchildren for about 4 years, but couldn't find one. I finally found Amazon had them and ordered one for my grandson's 2nd birthday. I couldn't wait to see him and his brothers enjoy the toy that their mother loved so much.To our disappointment the material is flimsy and cheap. The musical portion didn't work and the children couldn't even begin to spin on it. We were so disappointed. Play School had a great product, but apparently having quality products isn't important any longer. Don't waste your money. Go find a used one and enjoy. That's what we did.

I don't really understand all of the negative reviews for this product. My daughter is 15 months old and can sit on this and spin herself around quite easily. Just to test it out I sat on it and spun myself around (on a carpeted floor too!) again with no problem. I also don't see the problem with "flimsy" construction. Like I said- I sat on it and I am no lightweight and it held up just fine. I agree that the music can get a bit obnoxious after awhile but ALL musical toys get annoying when a toddler plays them over and over. There is an on/off switch for the music right under the center wheel. This toy has a stationary center post with a spinning base. The toy functions by the child pulling themselves around the center wheel. The center wheel does not and is not supposed to spin the base. The toy will spin as fast as the child can pull herself. Overall it is a great toy that seems to be getting an undeserved bad rap. |
