5.0 out of 5 stars Small price for large returns
This little item has a lot of storage space. There's not much more to be said about it. You can't beat the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars 64 Mb card for PS2, May 5, 2008
= Fun:1.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Playstation 2 64 MB Memory Card (Accessory)
When I first put in the card to a new PS2 machine, the PS2 indicated the card needed to be formatted - I reset the card and then it seemed to work fine. I played GH3 for a while and it continued to save without any issues. The next day when I started the game, the PS2 had issues seeing the card. I reset the card a couple of times and then everything worked without any issues.

I then noticed that every time I started the game up, I had to reset the card to get the PS2 to see it. I was worried the card would go out leaving me without a saved game so I went down to Circut City and got a 32 Mb card from them - put it in and saved the game to the new card and haven't use the 64Mb card again.

Not sure if the firmware is incorrect on that card or exactly what - but it doesn't work well...

I bought 2 of these cards, one for me and one for my brother. Mine only works after reseating it almost every time it needs to be accessed and my brothers card wasn't recognised at all with a multi-tap. Even with the bad reviews I wanted to try this memory card but that turned out to be a mistake. Still trying to return them.

P.S. I bought a Katana 32MB memory card and so far, it works every time even with a multi-tap.

1.0 out of 5 stars Think twice before purchasing., June 24, 2008
This review is from: Playstation 2 64 MB Memory Card (Accessory)
I ordered this 64MB Memory Card online and was a little iffy about the product upon opening it.
A friend of mine had warned me about buying 64mb cards because most of them, in his opinion, were garbage. Stupidly I neglected his advice and ordered the card anyway because of its reasonable price.

My PS2 doesn't even recognize the card, even after formatting and reseating it countless of times.

I DON'T recommend this product to anyone.

These are all over ebay and are made incredibly poorly, don't buy into the large size, data corruption and unit failures aren't worth the risk. I say risk only because chances are the card will not function on first use.

This memory card is just an unbranded generic card for the PS2, but it gets the job done. You probably won't find this much storage space for so little cost anywhere else.

BTW, there's nothing really "fun" about a memory card, so ignore the "fun rating" associated to any of these reviews.

This is 64MB just as it says, it is not a 32MB card being faked off as a 64MB card, it actually has 64MB on it, I used this on a hacked PS2's to play games off the hard drive after the DVD read heads go bad like always. I've got 3 of these, they all worked fine.

Couldn't get it to work right out of the package. I tried the trick suggested by one reviewer which involves loosening the screws a bit (seems they are often tightened too far in the factory). This didn't help, or at least didn't seem to. A day or so later, it miraculously worked... ...and then never worked again after that. I know, however, that there are a few out there that do work. I had one several years ago for my PS2 that didn't give me any trouble (this new one was for my son). Judging from the reviews, it seems that other people get mixed results from this product as well.

In my experience, the 64MB is a shot in the dark. If you want to take your chances, then go for it. Just don't be surprised if you find out it was a waste of money. My suggestion would be to get the 8MB... several, if you need them. They're pretty standard, and I've never known anyone to have a problem with them out of the box.

The title of this review pretty much says it all. I've never even filled up an 8MB memory card, and now I have 64MB to use! I'm set for life!
