This stand is for the slim PS2. It is approximately 4 inches in diameter, made of metal, and stands the PS2 up so that the green LED and drive tray are at top.

It does not really offer "space savings", owing to the design of the slim PS2's flip-top drive. There still must be around 6 inches of space for the drive door to open, and 4 inches of diameter for the base.

Despite being made of metal, there is not enough weight in the base to insert DVDs into the drive without stabilizing the top of the PS2, by using two hands to insert a DVD, or by putting something against the PS2. Simply trying to push the DVD into the drive may cause the unit to tip. The slim PS2 in horizontal orientation does not have this problem, for obvious reasons.

The slim PS2 in horizontal orientation has a problem with rattling noise when the drive operates. This can be alleviated by putting a cushion under the PS2 such as a toolbox liner, but this vertical stand also removes most of the noise caused by the drive, by making the drive spin perpendicularly to the stand's base and thus minimizing the drive wobble's contribution to the PS2's height from the table or other supporting structure (i.e., most vibration is horizontal instead of vertical and thus does not rattle).

In summary, this stand may or may not fit your needs. If you have 6 inches of room to the left of the PS2, and you don't mind using two hands to insert DVDs, the stand may help you.

If you prefer a simpler design, where the PS2 takes only the smallest amount of space it needs, or if you prefer installing DVDs with one hand, or if you have children who may not be able to work with the complicated nature of a vertical stand, then this stand may not help you.

The customer images are more accurate than the main image on the page for this product. This vertical stand has a circular base with a screw in the middle, and can only be used with the SCPH-70000 series of the slim PS2. Later models, such as the SCPH-9000 series, do not have a hole for the screw and cannot be used with this stand.

Check to ensure your system's compatibility before buying this product.

the vertical stand is wonderfull... but why? you can do this with 2 useless dvd cases and some duck tape... I put my PS slim vertically and it helps but why waste the time buying the product? I bought it just for kicks... literally.
