I have a TV with only one HDMI input... what a drag to have to switch cables when you want to do Hi-DEF gaming and Blu-Ray with the awesome ps3 on your HDTV that already has the cable box hooked to it.
In comes the neat little JoyTec HDMI Trilink. The thought process is right... it allows you to hook-up three separate HDMI sources to your TV with only one HDMI input. It even has a nice little basic remote and an attachment which allows you leave the unit hidden and still receive signal from the remote. I even setup my universal remote to control the unit. The problem is that I keep having problems... Sometimes it's no sound and sometimes it's no picture. To make it worse... no one thing fixes it... sometimes it's as simple as changing the channel on the cable... other times I actually have to restart the little unit (mostly I have to restart the little unit). And since I have it hidden with the rest of the cords... I have to move my entertainment center out to get to the unit. Needless to say... it's a pain when you want to watch something right then... or have company over. If you're willing to deal with the crap... it's excellent for the price you pay for it since I haven't found anything else more reasonably priced. But, if you can (meaning you can afford something else)... skip this one... if not, it's worth having over nothing at all.

Didn't work; No support,

From my cable box, the picture cut in and out, and from my PC, the picture had lots of artifacting. With direct connections, they worked fine. I emailed Joytech support twice in the last three weeks with no response yet.

I have three devices hooked into this little switch: DirecTV HD-10, a PC via DVI to HDMI converter, and a 360. It works as advertised as long as you don't breathe in its general direction. If you do, the picture more often than not will not come up until you go jiggle the cables leading into it. It's a real pain, but at the time, it was far and away the cheapest thing I could find that had three ports. Times have changed, and now so am I. I'm writing this review as I'm searching for something to replace this PoS

For whatever reason, this product is found under the "games" section. Hopefully, you were able to find this product easily, as it is probably one of the best HDMI switch solutions out there.
Pros: *Affordable (most other HDMI switches are well over $75 as of now) *No signal loss at all *Easy to set up *Small *Comes with small, simplistic remote control *Comes with RF sensor cable so you can hide unit away if you wish *Bright LED lights tell you which input you have selected (may be a con to some folks) Cons: *Cables are plugged in at front AND rear of unit, making it difficult to place in your entertainment center (if you wish to manually switch it) *Because of the above statement, you'll probably want to hide it away. This makes the LED light fairly useless since you can't see them. You'll have to use the remote and play a guessing game as to what input you currently have selected. *Built kind of cheaply. It's thin plastic. Feels like I could snap it in half. And that's about it. The pros far out weigh the cons, in my opinion. If the unit were to break for some reason, I would definitely consider buying another. I suggest that anyone considering this unit to just buy it now. Matcatz (a shoddy third party video game accessory maker) just bought out Joytech. Who knows that they'll do to this product or if they'll even make it in the future. Get it while you still can.

It works.,

Simple, small, and easy to hide out of the way. It does its job just fine. Does NOT need to be used with a PS3 to work, any HDMI devices are fine.

The built quality is, well, cheap. The ports "work" but sometimes have to replug for it to work.
At least it is a HDMI 1.3b compatible. And doesnt cost $100+

I've had this HDMI switcher for nearly a year, and can attest that it does work as advertised. The only problem is, if you do not switch to the source you wish to use prior to powering it on, HDCP may not sync properly, potentially causing the problems other reviewers have mentioned.
Solution: Switch to the device BEFORE you turn it on, or simply turn it off and back on upon switching.

Here are three things this switch will not work with:
Motorola cable TV box (passes picture, but not sound) Roku streaming video box (passes picture, but not sound) OPPO 981 DVD player (passes nothing). I have an old Monoprice 5X1 switcher that works fine with the Motorola box and Roku box, but not the OPPO (same failure mode). Did not try it with the PS3...what is the point?

The Joytech switch would be great - if it worked consistently. HDMI copy protection schemes just mess with it too much. I had a Playstation 3, a Directv HD DVR/Receiver, and a Samsung DVD burner connected to it. Sometimes it would work - and sometimes not. Problems varied from totally not recognizing the device to severe color shifts. Needs an update before it can be considered.
