Hi guys, I am hoping to pick one up in-store on launch day, or even through out the holiday season for a gift. Do you guys believe there will be a shortage on PS4 systems? I do not want to have to resort to 3rd party seller, as it will be much more, but what do you guys think?
The only thing I can suggest is to go to Walmart Thursday evening and see if they are selling any units. That is how I got my Wii in 2006 when I was too late to preorder one, I was one of 20 people who scored a unit that night at that store. If not, there might be some units being held over for Black Friday but don't hold your breath.
I called my local GameStop about something else, and they said they will have a few systems available outside of pre-orders, so they suggested getting in line Thursday to try to get one if I wanted another. I would guess that this is the case at most locations, though a phone call to confirm that at your location would be a good idea.
If you really want one. The best way may be at best buy since they are giving priority to those getting the epic gaming package. Granted youll have to drop 800 plus tax but Im sure you would have no problem getting one if you choose to drop the cash.
I suggest trying to get one from a major retailer by waiting in line early.. If that fails or you can't do that call the stores that took the most pre orders.. then wait until those on hold preorders are set to expire and get to the store.. The problem is most employees are waiting for those too.
There is a good possibility you might find one at places such as Best Bey, Walmart, etc. Sony has been holding back inventory to combat PS4 shortages. Regardless, it's still going to be pretty tough to find one on launch day due to the high demand. Your best bet is picking a store and going to the midnight launch.
