Perfect for LCD/Plasma with Composite Inputs,
By Keith Bryant (Webster, TX USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Playstation 3 Analog AV Multi Out to Component Cable (Video Game)
I recently bought this as a second cable for our 47" Vizio LCD (VO47LFHDTV). My daughter has a PS2 she usually plays in her bedroom TV but we sometimes bring the PS2 into the living room for some fun on the bigger screen. This cable allowed us to avoid swapping cables behind the TV. This cable stays plugged into the Vizio so all we have to do is move the PS2 console. Boy, does this give off a sharp signal! Try playing LEGO-Star Wars saga or your favorite DVD through this connector.
ATTENTION: WHILE THE AD STATES THAT THIS IS A PLAYSTATION 3 COMPONENT + COMPOSITE A/V CABLE, IT DOES WORK WITH PLAYSTATION 2!!!

My PS2 used to be connected by the old composite cables that came with it to my 32" HDTV and the picture was horrible. The graphics of most PS2 games were dull and lack luster and the in-game text was blurry. In my personal experience it was so bad that playing old PS2 games gave me headaches. I bought this in hopes for any type of improvement and to my surprise I was astonished by how beautiful some PS2 games came out. The colors were more vibrant and the graphics were more crisp. Best of all the in-game text were absolutely clear! Now I'm able to play old games without worrying about getting headaches.
This cable works wonders and is able to bring out the PS2's full potential of displaying games in widescreen 480p and letting you enable Progressive Scan in some games. The one feature I have not tried yet with this cable is connecting it to a PS3 since I do not currently own one.

Works great! Game must support better output format,

The cable worked great with Guitar Hero World Tour. You have to remember to change the display settings in the game. Not all PS2 games can output different video formats and the built-in dvd player on the PS2 will only do 480i so just be aware of that.

basically I have a PS3 (capable of 1080p) and I have a rear projection TV that can only do 1080i....When using the HDMI cable and setting the PS3 to 1080i it would randomly glitch and cut out (this was with various brands of cables and have heard others that had same problem) bought this cable and running 1080i without problems

I ordered this cable because I wanted a better picture for my Ps3 games, Netflix movies and everything else I use my Ps3 for. I ordered this one because it was cheap and figured you couldn't really go wrong with this type of cable. It was delivered to my home, I hooked it up and the picture was perfect...for about 10 minutes. Then these diagonal lines started swooping across my game screen. I checked all the connections and all were connected properly. I went to the store the same day and bought the name brand cable and it worked perfectly. It wasn't as cheap as this one but it actually worked, which is always a big plus.

PS2 / PS3 Component Video Cable,
By Abraham Lincoln "A. Lincoln" (Newark, CA USA) - See all my reviews

The item description mentions that this is a PS3 component video cable, but IT CAN BE VERY MUCH USED FOR A SONY PS2.I purchased this item very recently and it works like a charm for PS2. While the so called 'branded' company sells for a extreme high premium and unrealistic prices like $40-$70, this cable is an extremely good value for money at a great price. There are no big flaws with the cable and I only wish that each of the cables at the connection end to the TV were a little more robust. This is a highly recommended purchase for anyone who is trying to get a component video cable for PS2 / PS3 at the fraction of the cost what the same 'branded' cables may cost.

I needed to find a way to get my ps2 to play on my hdtv. It didn't have standard composite video so I had to try something else. I looked up component cables at the local games stores and they wanted [...]+ so I went with this online. It was cheap so I wasn't worried if it didn't work because I've heard the ports on the tv need to be pb/cb pr/cr. Supposedly ports that were just pb pr wouldn't work. Well on my Samsung T260HD they worked. The picture looks decent as well. So if anyone else needs some cables to play on their HDTV these work just fine and they are only [...] and some change plus shipping.

The picture quality improved incredibly when attaching my old (fat) PS2 to my Samsung LN32a450 LCD TV. It almost feels easier to play FPS games like Black and Killzone with the improved detail and image quality. Madden '08 was a little pixel-ated, but the improved 3D effect looked less SEGA Genisis than it did when hooked up with the composite cable (it was sad). Make sure you check the display setting in each game so you can the best picture possible. I know Prince of Persia has a 'Progressive Scan' option that you can take advantage of. This is the best purchase you can make to bring new life to your old system, for under $5!

Even if it DIDN'T work well, you can't go wrong for that price, but it worked perfect, and it was so cheap that the shipping cost more than the product. Highly recommended if you have a PS2 or a PS3 and want a better picture but can't use HDMI.
For the record, even though it's advertised as a Playstation 3 cable, I bought it for a PS2 and it works out of the box just fine. On the PS3, you'd get a better picture with HDMI, but if you don't have a flat panel display that supports it just go with this. You will NOT regret it.

You'd be crazy NOT to buy this.,

I bought it so that my PS2 could output a higher resolution and a crisper picture on my Sharp Aquos. Come on, for $1.26 you'd be crazy to not buy these component cables and not give it a try. At a minimum you can view most games 480p and some games are capable of 720p and 1080i is reserved for Polyphony games that I play the most: GT4 and TT.
