I bought this to play Racing games on my PC (being i'm use to playing them on the PS1 not on a keyboard, yea last console I've had was a ps1!). It's a great controller, first gamepad i've ever purchased and probably the last for awhile because this thing feels solid. My windows XP detected it immediately and had me racing in seconds after some button binding. The controller also feels very comfortable to hold, whatever material they used on the back has a soft feel to it and the overall layout is perfect. All around a great pad, can't go wrong with this one, looks sharp as well!

I gave this controller a 4 out of 5 stars because I haven't had a problem with it, but then again I only use it for my ps2.
As far a using it for the ps2 system it works excellent and you probably wont find anything better. The control handle is a bit thicker than the normal ps2 controller and gives it a more steady feel in the hands. You may not really notice it much if at all but the feeling of it will feel much better than other ps2 controllers. Another great feature on this controller is the option of switching the joystick tops, or grips from the standard round ps2 style to the concave type the microsoft did with there controllers. I prefer the concave style so my thumbs are sitting nice and steady of the joysticks instead of constantly adjusting them to the round tops but that is just me. The D-pad on the alienware controller here is much better than standard ps2 controllers or even some other off brand company controller because instead of the d-pad being 4 individual buttons that can be irritating to use, if you were to use them, is just a single pad that tilts but contains the outlines of the original so its like the standard controller but not. This may not be a serious deal to most people but if you were playing old playstation games on your ps2 like I tend to do than this controller would work wonders for you. I haven't done much of computer game playing with this controller but from what I did use this controller for I can tell you that it is much better at just being a ps2 controller than a pc controller. It can't just be plugged into the computer and be used and depending on the game it might not even work. The usb connector was pretty unstable and shook loose from the port a few times for me. I don't really know if it was just me or not but I didn't really have much luck with this on the pc but if your looking for a new ps2 controller than this would be a good way to go. Now for all that your getting this is a pretty decent controller for just around $25 and it comes in 4 colors. I personally got the blue and I really didn't want it cause, not to say the blue it bad, the blue lights just irritate me but thats just me. Of my personally opinion the black or green ones would be nice for anyone but that is just me. Hope I was able to help some people here with this review.

I purchased a Dual Compatible gamepad, and have had nothing but problems. I purchased the gamepad based on Alienware's reputation, but clearly that was a mistake. First of all, for some reason whenever the control would rumble (force feedback), the lights on the pad would dim and windows stop recognizing it for a second. I suspect this is due to faulty circuitry, as the gamepad is hooked directly to a USB port that provides ample power. Windows would recognize it again after the rumbling stops, but I would have to restart whatever game I happen to be playing before I can use it in that game again. Games would not let me disable rumbling, likely a driver problem, so I had to open the gamepad and remove the rumble motors to solve the problem, which is unacceptable. Another problem is that the point where the detachable thumbpad connects to the stick is too bulky, and sometimes I'm unable to tilt the stick fully to the left or right, and ingame the character would stutter between walking and running. And now, to top it all off, for some reason when I push the right stick up or down, it registers in windows as me pushing the left stick right or left, despite the fact that I'm not touching the left stick, more evidence of faulty circuitry. Finally, on the right stick, left and right is set the the rZ axis, while up and down is set to the Z axis. This is the opposite of what most pads use, and is irritating in games that don't let me set it. At the very least, some software support for swapping these axises would be nice.
In short, this will be the last Alienware gamepad I ever purchase. Logitech offers a similiar gamepad for the same price, and while it lacks rumble and PS2 support, the reliability and robust profiling software (included for free no less!) make it well worth it compared to this piece of junk. I only wish I had saved the receipt.

This is my first review but I feel i should say something about his Controller. I bought this back during the days of PS2 and I must say to me this IS the Best controller ever made. I would love to see a Blu-Tooth version for the PS3 The Standard Dual Shock series has been the best until I found this. It can be used on some PS3 games since it has a USB connection as well as a PS2 connection but it does not have Sixaxis.
Overall If Sony wanted to improve on an already great design this would be the design to copy and use. I still use this exclusively on PS2 and PC.

This control is alright in the sense that it features all the buttons you would find on a playstation 2 controller in the proper places as well as the fact that it features analog sticks and vibration, the control has an alright feel but not as smooth or sturdy feeling as a PS2 controller. For anolog support games it fine, but for d-pad this controller is complete garbage. When I try to go left, the character sometimes moves down, or when I try to go up he sometimes goes left, it feels like all the d-pad buttons are connected to each other and is very frustrating when you are trying to play a game like Crash Bandicoot where a little off on the d-pad can make a huge difference. So in short, the controller doesn't look as cool as a dualshock, doesn't feel as cool, doesn't run as smoothly, and is crap compared to a sony dualshock, which is the much better brand and can be bought for only $10 compared to this overpriced second rate device. It does its job, and for analog games it isn't as bad, but just does not compare to a dualshock or xbox controller in terms of quality.

I use this controller for my computer, no tests on PS2.
I gave this controller 3 of 5 stars mainly because this controller is basic, plain and simple. The controller does have a good feel to it. I don't mind the wire, or I wouldn't have purchased it in the first place. If you dual box games, this might not be ideal for you as the controller is fairly light, and the wire sometimes pulls it right off your lap. The main problem I have with this controller is the button response. I find myself mashing the buttons sometimes to make sure it is pushed in enough to pick up the command. It can be frustrating trying to get through a menu fast only to select the wrong option because your down button missed a tap. This seems to be a common problem with low end controllers, so I kind of expected that. Nothing to write home about, but gets the job done.

I was excited to try an Alienware product and it worked perfectly initially. However the first time I put a little force on the right analog stick, the cover flew off. I guess thats to be expected since I received an extra pair of covers. The biggest problem for me though is that after about a week of use the R1 shoulder button was not responding which takes a lot away from the game I purchased it for. I've been searching for a replacement gamepad. Oh well I take my loss and learn from it.

This is a bit more fun than your standard controller - if you have your Ps2 still churning and you need a new controller - pick this up - I have no problems with it AT ALL. Very solid - and yes ALIENWARE is great.
