Don't buy this thing. The buttons are spaced incorrectly and hard to press. The Star Power doesn't and has never worked.
I contacted TAC and they don't seem willing to replace a defective product - granted it's out of warranty but I am sure they recognize they have issues with the very first production runs. And finally, if I want it to work with Guitar Hero II, I have to buy an additional adapter from TAC. IMO they don't deserve any more of my money for producing such garbage.

BEWARE GUITAR HEROS!! this is not the axe for you. The design and feel is great. When it comes to actually playing the game it couldn't be more frustrating. the Whammy bar didn't work right out of the box. the controler would shut on an off during the middle of the song. star power function does not work unless you hit the select button. stick to the wired original. hope this has helped.

"Good range. No lag. On the first night I had it I got drunk, and like a true Rock Star, I smashed it on the ground after giving the performance of a life time. Although now it's held together with duct tape, it still works like a dream. I'm very satisfied."

I bought this guitar for my nephew, who called me when it arrived THRILLED with it. Now he could duel with his brother in Guitar Hero II. I went to visit and got a chance to use it myself. I was no match for the 15 year old, but that wasn't the fault of the guitar. It was a lot of fun and seemed to be holding up to serious usage in the house.

I should have listened to all of the other reviews on this product. It worked for about half a song, and then it was on and off, and then didn't work at all. DO NOT BUY THIS GUITAR!!!! There has got to be a wireless guitar out there somewhere that is reliable.

I had trouble with my first one and being the type of person I am, I returned it for a second one. The second one had the exact same issues as the first. Both issues were with keeping wireless connectivity while playing. The explanation on the manufactures website was that certain batteries may be too small. That is kinda weird since modern technologies have made it so that all AA batteries are the same in diameter.
My opinion of this product: do not buy it unless you like to stick pieces of paper in with the batteries before you play.

I got this guitar for Christmas and it worked great for a couple of days, but after about a week the guitar quit working. Now the receiver won't sense my guitar at all, and I can't play Guitar Hero! I'm not sure if other brands would be better, but I would rather spend $22 and get a wired guitar controller that works and doesn't take batteries. I never even stood far enough away from the PS2 to warrant needing a wireless controller anyway.

Ever since I tried the game Guitar Hero 2 with my friend, I always had a desire to get it myself. I did not like my friend's guitar, however (it was the Red Octane guitar) because I like doing moves and dancing around while playing, a feat nearly impossible with a wired guitar. I google searched wireless guitar hero guitars, and this shiny, impecable looking blue V guitar popped up in images. I knew that had to be mine. I had one concern, and that was that the wireless feature might change the gameplay, but I decided to risk it and asked my dad for the guitar. The result was amazing- the guitar arrived 2 days before we expected, the guitar was not damaged or beaten up, there is no difference in gameplay as for lag (myth of wireless guitar lag busted), and I love the freedom of being able to move to the back of the room, jump a 360, or even try to memorize a song so you can play it in a different room! I have had the guitar for about 1 month, and I haven't changed the batteries even once. Guitar looks great, and I'm going to keep this guitar and use it when Guitar Hero 3 comes out. Did I mention that the price is almost the same as the Red Octane wired version? BUY THIS GUITAR!

I purchased the Flying V wireless part 2 (which is compatible with GH2). It worked great at home. Needed some finagling with battery compartment but no biggie. Then came when I took it to school. At my school it's MAC world. I noticed as router after router came online throughout the school day...the guitar ceased to work. At home I have a westell router and it works fine.
I have not contacted TAC yet but I am sure it is the MAC routers for sure as i ran tests with them on and off. My suggestion is if there are any wireless routers (especially MAC's turn them off and see what happens). I almost returned my hammer and I'm glad I didn't. Hope this helps some people out there |
