I have two of these for my 4-1/2 and 7-1/2 year old children. Although they are older than toddlers for whom the product is intended, they still spill. They chose these cups themselves because they look like the spill proof travel mugs that my husband and I use for coffee when we are on the go. They are absolutely spill-proof with the valves in place. I take the valves out since my children are older and even without the valves, they are better at containing spills than grown-up style travel mugs. They are very durable and can withstand a beating, as many of Playtex's other sippy cup products. Also, the valves are identical to the sippy cups. To the best of my knowledge they are also BPA free! Great product!

Playtex Coolster tumblers are great. We use these for our 17 month old. They are just like regular drinking cups only they have a spill-proof valve to keep them from spilling everywhere. My child has no problem using these. We have four cups-- green with frogs, orange with fish, blue with sports balls, and teal with dots. The prints are cute and fun, the cups are very easy to drink from, and they do not leak at all! They are very easy to clean with only 3 parts-- valve, lid, and cup. Just put the valve in the neat holder under the lid and put everything in the top rack of dishwasher and all come out clean. The cups are made of sturdy plastic with a contoured shape so it is easy to grip. They are insulated to keep drinks cool for hours with no condensation on the outside of the cup! This is the best spill-proof cup on the market! Much better than traditional spill-proof cups.

Our five year old uses these as travel cups. Without the valve it's just like Mom's insulated cup. I use the valve as a stopper if I need to pack a full cup with NO leaks.
Extra valves and lids are available. We got several lids to replace Playtex QuickStraw lids. They do fit QuickStraw cups well, though certainly not as cute a profile but less expensive than buying all new.

This product is great overall and I would recommend it to anyone that needs to upgrade the sippy cup with their toddler. I did my homework before buying this product and I am glad I did.

The pros: It is a great transition from sippy (spouted) cup to a kids cup (with no top) because it doesn't have a curve spout that sticks out so it teaches how to drink from a big cup. Has a ridge all the way around the top edge similiar to a open cup. Plus , even though the toddler still needs to suck on the cup to recieve the liquid, it pours more than a previous stage sippy cup. It is easy to clean at the top drawer in the dishwasher. Includes a handy place to store the plug just under the lid for washing so it doesn't get lost in the dishwasher. It is easy to grip for little one. And easy to refill. Plus with the 3 pack of different solid colors I am teaching my little one colors and association....blue for water, orange for apple or orange juice...and so on. I keep the water in the blue at all times, apple juice in the orange at all times and so on. Plus it is BPA free and that was a very important item for me.

The cons: Since it is a insulated cup (though I didn't see much of a difference from a non-insulated cup --live in Fla) you can't see the level of liquid in the cup to see if they soon need a refill. And even though my little one isn't a shaker, when she does shake the cup it does leak just a little (drops) but that is the only time. So if you have a toddler who is really rough on cups just keep that in mind. Please also make sure that you have the plug in correctly (with the arrow on tab in the spout) or you will have problems. But those are the only cons I have found with this cup.

So overall rating I would HIGHLY recommend this great cup to every parent as a practical choice and as a teaching tool for the world of big cups and colors. THUMBS UP !!!!

Adding to my original review (below) My 1 yr old will now only drink from these cups. (Because that's what big sister uses) She does not have any problems with the spoutless design. My (now) 4 yr old has long ago graduated from a sippy, but will still use these with and without the valve, especially in the car.

We have had these sippy cups for years and are great. They fit in my daughters cup holder in the car, and keep her drinks cool. They don't leak the valves stay in place and replacement valves are easy to find as they wear out. My daughter is now old enough that I don't need to put a valve in it unless we are in the car. It's nice because it looks "converts" into a regular insulated cup. I bought 3 of these cups when she was about 18 months old, she's 3 1/2 now and I'm sure the same 3 cups will be around for quite a while longer.

These sippy cups leak if shaken and/or thrown down (which my two toddler boys do often). I am constantly wiping up milk from my hardwood floors and finding dried milk spots. The bottoms of the ones with designs like Toy Story for some reason get unbalanced after being in the heat of the dishwasher, so they won't stay upright. The plain colors don't have this problem. The only reason I gave them 2 stars is that the insulation works. I can put them in my son's lunch kit and his milk will still be cold two hours later when it's time for lunch at school.

I have about 20 of these Playtex sippys and I'm having to replace them for the Nuk sippy which doesn't seem to have the leaking problem (although it is NOT insulated).

The description does not include that this is a twist & click product (one I was avoiding due to prior issues but luckily it works fine this time). The valve, while avoiding spills, is so efective for that that my son has a very hard time sucking on the mouth piece to get any liquid out & to get him to use these cups I had to remove all the valves. Also, the image shows patterns on the cuips - there is NOTHING, just plain colors. Kids this age look for interstig & cool things to draw their attention to the cups. Bottom line - I will not be buying more of these due to their cost & lack of detail & difficulty drinking with the valve.

These are horrible. They leak. BAD. On their side - leaking. Throw them down - they leak. They also are prone to over-tightening. Just junk. Do yourself a favor and buy Munchking, ThinkBaby or Tilty.

I had a cup like this already and wanted to buy more. When I found these and they had cute designs, I placed the order. It does have in the product description that the designs may vary, but mine came with no designs at all. I am a bit disappointed.

I was totally excited to get these cups for my then-20 month old son. He is still in the chewing on-everything stage though, so all of the lids are chewed on. This happens pretty easily because the plastic is not rubbery at all and I can scrape my fingernail on it and it scratches. This wouldn't be a problem except that the plastic on the lids is all gummed up when he drinks from them now. I wish they would sell just the lids as replacements.

Leaking - We've had these cups for about 6 months now and almost every one of them starts leaking after a few months. Not sure why, there is no rubber barrier, it just screws on like other sippy cup lids.

I did give these a 3 because all of our different brands of sippy cups leak sometimes, but these are totally cute!
