It is exactly what you find in stores like Walmart, and it works just the same. When I bought this at Amazon, it cost roughly the same as Walmart (may be a few cents less). It ships free with 2-day shipping as well. I bought it here mostly because I like amazon, and the shopping here in general.

I have diaper genie elite as well as the 'twistaway' model. Having used both for a couple of years now, I would say don't bother with twistaway model, it just isnt worth that 10$ you save initially. It is much harder to use, and in my experience runs out of cartridge much sooner. The elite system is much simpler to use with just one hand.

The diaper genie is a must have for disposal of smelly diapers. The bags work as they should and contain odors as they should. The one issue I have is that each of the refills only seems to last for a few 'pail-fulls' before needing to be replaced. For the price, I would expect them to last longer or give you more 'bag for your buck'.

Yes I do purchase this item and love using it. I do wish it was less expensive and no matter where I shop it is never on sale. This company knows you need it and until a competitor does the job as well as Diaper Genie they have no reason to bring down the price. I finally got smart and only use the Genie for poop diapers. The rest go in the regular trash can.

fairly disappointed when i opened the product because it was not the GENIE II ELITE refill, it was just the GENIE ELITE. not as advertised. it did fit the genie II but with a small opening on the lid, not as exact, so i decided to keep it since i really needed it for my son's diapers and didn't want the hassle to be exchanging it. BEWARE buyers, this is not the GENIE II ELITE, it's just the GENIE ELITE Refill.

Playtex no longer makes the Diaper Genie II or the Diaper Genie II Elite, therefore they no longer make the refills. They claim these Diaper Genie "Essentials" refills are compatible and yes, the cartridge does fit inside the Diaper Genie II Elite pail. This is, however, where the compatibility stops. The "new" refills are perhaps make of a thicker plastic than the Diaper Genie II Elite refills, which may sound wonderful when you think about odor protection. BUT!! The clamp inside the Diaper Genie II DOES NOT CLOSE all the way with the Diaper Genie "Essentials" refills so there ends up being a faint odor in the room!! Don't be fooled if you are in search of Diaper Genie II or Diaper Genie II Elite refills, this isn't them!

As some of the other reviewers have mentioned, these are no longer the refills for the Diaper Genie II Elite. The main picture (lime green background) is the product shipped, not the third picture (blue background), which is the Diaper Genie II Elite refill. I had this item on Subscribe and Save and the correct product was previously shipped but the last shipment contained the incorrect item.

I haven't used anything else but the genie II. So far so good, even stinky poops are contained within the diaper genie. don't ask me how since it appears there are some small gaps within the jaws that clamp around the plastic. all i know is it works. The bag refills are a bit on the expensive side, but having amazon prime helps contain costs.

I have ordered this from the subscribe and save. I have gotten the right product initially, but the last 2 orders are for the Essentials and Elite, but not for the Elite 2, so therefore am returning them... not sure if they stopped making it, when I go to the playtex website, it doesn't mention that they are not making it anymore, but when I went to Target, there is no more Elite 2 pails available, just the Elite and Essentials. Not sure if Amazon has any more of this item. From other reviews, looks like it doesn't fit into the Elite 2 system, so didn't bother opening it and trying, going to try and stock up on them while I can in the store.

If you've used a diaper genie, you know it is the greatest thing man has ever invented. It takes the normal crazy stink out of a kids diaper pail. The refills are a fact of life for every Diaper Genie user. They are the life blood of the stink containment. When my first daughter was born, I found out how quickly you can run through these things. We started buying 3 at a time at WalMart and it seemed like we were always running out. They normally run about $6-8 per refill depending on where you buy them (brick and mortar). Amazon is a deal if you ask me. I know I'm going to need 100 more of these before all my children are potty trained, so subscribe and save just makes sense. With the Amazon Mom discount plus the subscribe and save, I'm getting these delivered to my door for ~$5.08 per refill. A deal if you ask me, and takes the hassle out of it.

As for the product itself, it just works. No need to worry about that.

It holds dirty diapers as advertised. It keeps odors inside the bag when closed. Easy to replace and convenient. When it is running out, you can see a black mark coming out of the dispenser indicating you the cartridge is about empty.
