5.0 out of 5 stars Works great so far
I've been back at work for right at a month and using it twice a day, 5 days a week at least. I get from 8-12 oz. in a 20 min. session. Up until this last week I've only used the lowest 2 suction settings, I've recently gone up to the 3rd one sometimes. I'm not sure if it's lost that much suction or my body is just adapting to it.

It's very comfortable to...

1.0 out of 5 stars Buy Medela, October 29, 2006
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I purchased the Playtex Embrace because I thought it looked like a more comfortable pump. I returned to work and within a week of pumping with the Embrace, my milk supply began to decrease. I also has blisters from the breast shield. I went to a breastfeeding support group at my local hospital and the lactation consultant suggested I go buy a Medela. I purchased the Medela and within a few days, my supply had increased. My baby is now 5 months old and still nursing, thanks to the Medela. Bottom line, go with what has been around and proven for longer....Medela. There are also so many more options with Medela that Playtex does not offer. I had to get larger breast shield cones, but they were stocked at Babies R Us. If you are thinking about The Playtex Embrace, I would advise you to consider Medela. They were the same price at Babies R us....Playtex is cheaper at Amazon, but you get what you pay for. I am not one for promoting someone's products, but this is something very important. Best of luck!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good Pump for working mom, February 1, 2007
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I am fortunate that I have a Medela pump that I use at home and the Playtex that I use at work. I actually seem to have better luck with the Playtex than the Medela. Pumping is not painful and I can actually talk on the phone and the other person can't hear what I am doing. I have been working and pumping for about a month now and see no decrease in my milk production. I would definitely recommend this pump to anyone looking for one.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)

It's very comfortable to use, I really like the soft flanges and the pumping action. I can pump directly into any of my wide mouth or narrow mouth bottles (even if they aren't playtex), though I use bags to freeze milk.

It does have a couple quirks. If there is any moisture at all as you assemble the collectors, they don't seal and you get an annoying whistle. This hasn't seemed to affect the amount of suction much and it still seems to preform just fine, it's just annoying. It is supposed to remember the last settinig if you leave it plugged in and mine often does not. It tends to reset itself on the next session if you leave it plugged in. (You turn it on and nothing happens for about 30 seconds, then the lights blink and it returns to the lowest settings and you have to press power again to make it start)

I would reccomend it to anyone needing to pump daily, especially if they have had bad experiences with other pumps being uncomfortable in the past.

4.0 out of 5 stars Playtex Breastpump, January 3, 2007
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I would definitely start out on the lowest setting until you get used to it like the directions say. I would also suggest using lanolin before pumping. I tore my skin using the highest setting and speed which I thought I was used to but using the lanolin before pumping kept that from happening again. It is very comfortable for a breastpump. I like having the optiong of pumping into storage bottles or liners that go with the Playtex Nursers.

1.0 out of 5 stars Add $100 plus shipping for each kid you have, December 21, 2009
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I love this pump, then why the 1 star? I bought this pump when my first son was born. After using it for about a month the motor died on me. Playtex was fantastic, sending me a new motor free of charge over night. I only used the pump about one more month and then it went into storage. I took it out when my second son was born and used it for about 4 months when the motor died again! I called Playtex and they informed me the motor has a one year warranty from day of purchase and so I had to shell out $100 for a new motor plus extra money for overnight shipping (didn't include 2 business days of processing). They informed me that the motor is only good for about 300 hours of use. That's really not a lot if you're a full time working mom. It should last you through one child, but if you plan to have more than one you should plan to shell out extra money for a new motor.

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVE this pump!, November 28, 2006
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I am a breastfeeding and working mom, with a nine month old. I have realy put this pump to work! I have used a medela and this pump is much better for several reasons.
The first is it is much more comfortable than a medla. The second is you can pump directly into your bottles vs pumping into a seperate container and then pouring your milk into a bottle. The third is it is much quieter than a medela.
I could not ask for any more in a pump!

4.0 out of 5 stars great for active mums, June 20, 2009
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I used this pump every day from the day my milk came in. I take it to work, I take it on trips. It works great and fast. It's easy to clean. I love it and will continue to breastfeed for longer than I expected because I have this pump.
I have never had issues due to not being able to empty the breasts completely. The suction is sufficient.

Not so good:
1. The lid that covers the tubing does not shut properly, eventually it breaks. But the replacement is cheap.
2. The power adapter is very heavy. I got a new one for about $15 that is lighter and works with different voltage inputs (Europe/US).

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite pump yet, November 14, 2008
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
When I had my daughter, I used both an Ameda Purely Yours pump and a hospital pump. I bought this one while I was pregnant with my son, and I like it so much better. Normally, I'm a large C, but while nursing I swell up to a D. The cups on the previous pumps I used were always too small and left my nipples feeling really sore, even after months of pumping and nursing. The massaging cups on this pump are so much easier on my breasts. They never feel sore after pumping and I'm able to get more milk in less time with this pump. I also like that it comes with a car charger. I haven't needed it yet, but it's a handy thing to have. If there's anything about this system that I'd change it would be more storage bottles.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not working for me, August 21, 2008
This review is from: Playtex Embrace Double Automatic Breastpump (Baby Product)
I purchased this pump at a Babies R Us. I got it because it was a little cheaper than the Medela. That was a mistake. I have been back to work for a week and my milk supply is decreasing. And I agree with the other mother who says you need to use lanolin. If not, it can be uncomfortable. I am going to purcahase a Medela soon, before my supply isn't even enough to bother pumping!

I looked around and did lots of research when put on bed rest. Bought this, becasue it looked great and was lower cost than the medela brand. Found it at Wal-mart for $100 (now they don't carry it). I got it and noticed that 2 indicator lights were out, but I could deal with that. My daughter was put into the NICU after she was born. The hospital's medela pump hurt real bad. I had my husband bring in this pump and I did not have the pain. But the down button on the suction didn't work. Oh well, I don't turn down the suction once I start pumping. I use is for about half of the feedings since I went back to work.

Now my daughter is not even 2 months old and one of the tabs that hold the shield in place just broke off. I have to now find a new pump since I have to double pump due to my break schedule at work and the fact that I am an overproducer. Would not recommend the "deal" this one is.

Here it is 6am and there only place I can find a double electric pump in store anywhere this early in the morning. I have work at 8 and no time off left, so I will have to try to improvise with only 1 side electric and the other using the manual medela pump I received from the hospital.
