From School Library Journal
reS-Exquisitely detailed, hand-sewn illustrations bring new life to traditional children's rhymes, games, and songs in this fine collection. Yarn, buttons, beads, lace, and a huge variety of textures and fabric designs are combined to create simple, bold shapes that give the pages a three-dimensional effect. Titles are stitched creatively into the illustrations but the rhymes appear in large print, ideal for reading to a group. Directions for the motions appear after each selection. Readers will find favorites, such as "I'm a Little Teapot," "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," and "Incy Wincy Spider"; they will also discover less-familiar verses: "Hanky Panky," "Five Little Peas," and "Onery, Twoery." "Wind the Bobbin Up" is one of several rhymes that can be used as group transitions, beginning with a lively rhythm and ending quietly several lines later with "And put your hands upon your knee." Many rhymes are perfect for bouncing babies on laps, but most can be enthusiastically enjoyed by older preschool and early elementary children. This book is fun from cover to cover, and beautiful to look at.
