to be fair we bought this book only after seeing it in person. we went to a play group and Marylou zeroed in on this book right away. she loved the sticky paint that was no longer very sticky and i just new we had to add it to our collection at home. i love finding books for Marylou that she will enjoy. Marylou was 17 months old at the time it arrived and we haven't had the book for very long.

the book came brand new and the paint was super sticky to the point it keeps the pages from coming apart without help from mommy or daddy. this is a bummer as its her favorite page and is easily skipped over. i do hope very soon that wears off a little so she can open to that page on her own.

the sticky paints have different colors which is a huge plus. Marylou will point to each color and i will tell her the color. the elephant page has some small stuffed animals of different kinds and she will point to those and i will say its name and if she points a second time i will tell her (for example) "the lion says roar" but i roar in a cutesy non scary way and tickle her so the animals in her book aren't scary. She really likes the green dinosaur scaly skin & the scratchy pink tutu too :)

i can see this book helping to teach her textures, colors, and animals allowing it to grow with her. plus the words on it will help turn it into a story when she's paying attention long enough to stories. :)

My 11 month old Grandson loves the DK Pop-Up books. They are colorful and the pop-ups are very sturdy. He has the DK Peekaboo Farm and Peekaboo Playtime books. (With the third DK pop-up book on pre-order for March) These are his favorite books.. He wants to read them over and over and over again. He smiles and laughs at the turn of each page, and eagerly reaches to pull down the pop-ups himself. I highly reccomend them!

My grandson, age 3, searches our children's library stacks for this every time he goes there. He loves it and I believe it is the forerunner of children's ability to read.

My daughter loves this book! She loves the different textures and loves the pictures of the different children!
