Editorial Reviews

From the pages of Penthouse, the Lewis Brothers of Detroit bring you their sexsational new discovery, Loni Sanders. Perhaps the most beautiful new star to heat up the adult scene, she was recently unveiled in a very revealing Penthouse layout. The pages come to life as Loni sparks a cast, including Chic Cover Girl Nicole Noir, Chelsea McClane, and almost a dozen other ladies in PLEASE... MR. POSTMAN. Making her rounds as the first postwoman in a small town, Loni delivers some mysterious plain brown wrapped packages. Needless to say, they`re often unusual contents prompts some sizzling action to warm up your screen. And then again there`s Loni. PLEASE... MR. POSTMAN delivers... and so does she.

To me this is the best Marvelettes Album ever. I love all the songs, and Im sure you will too. This cd may cost you a pretty penny but its well worth it!. You can get a copy here or bid on one on E-Bay. either way its a good CD. If you have some of these songs on other cds, You'll know that these songs are very good.

This is a good example of early Motown. You have your great tracks and you have your fillers(& covers).I prefer the Stereo version of this disc but I own a Japanese import which is in Mono. Gladys Horton is in fine vocal performance given some of the tracks are not that great. My favorite tracks are I Want A Guy(Which could've been a hit and far better than The Supremes version), Please Mr. Postman, All The love I've Got and Oh I Apologize. Motown was still trying to find their way writing and production wise but when a song was great it was great!Trial and error but they quickly learned how to improve their craft.The Marvelettes,The Miracles and Mary Wells would help put The Detroit music scene on the map big time by 1963. I'm sure Motown still has a large chunk of unreleased material from The Marvelettes still in the vault. It would be nice if they would release it.They've been doing it in England with the "Cellarful Of Motown" series which is up to volume 4 right now(I'm waiting for more). There is also an import by The Marvelettes called the Essential Marvelettes and it contains 9 previously unreleased tracks(8 for the U.K.)songs are: I Just Can't Let Him Down, On The Other Side Of Town, Maybe I Dried My Tears For The Last Time, Because I Love Him, Our Lips Just Rhyme Every Time, Caught You Puttin' The Game On Love, Sugars Never Been As Sweet As You, The Boy From Crosstown(Their are several versions of this track)and a KILLER track only released in the U.K.(and not until September 1980)Finders Keepers,Losers Weepers. Go figure. If you can buy the Essential disc do so by all means theses tracks are truly fantastic. RIP Gladys Horton 1944-2011.

This cd isn't the best. But isnt the worst. If you like The Mavelettes older songs then you will love this album, If you like the newer 1965 and up, this album wouldnt show much interest to you. The songs are:

W = Wanda, G = Gladys

1.Angel(W) Wanda feels love for a guy, but he loves someone else, to her he is an Angel.

2.I Want A Guy(W) Wanda wants a guy! Not like the last whos in the past.

3.Please Mr.Postman(G) Gladys is waiting for her boyfriends letter... to make her feel better!

4.So Long Baby(W) Now Wanda say goodbye to her lover, tell him to git on outa here!

5.I Know How It Feels(W) Hmm, i cant remember this one, i'll have to listen to it again.

6.Way Over There(G) Gladys' love is over the far away but she still loves him.

7.Happy days(G) Gladys broke up with her boyfriend but still in a way loves him, even tho he must go.

8.You Dont Want Me No More(G) This song was probably supposed to follow Please Mr. Postman, She recieves "His" letter and he says, I dont want you no more!

9.All The Love I Got(G) Gladys is going to give her lover all the love shes got.

10.Whisper(W) Wanda wants her lover to whisper sweet things in her ear!

11.Oh I Apologize(G) Gladys says sorry for the way she treated him.

In My rating from best to... well not worst but not the best!
