Please Touch: A Guided Tour of the Human Potential Movement (A Delta book)

The author wrote in the Preface to this 1970 book (which was written when the "Human Potential Movement" was really coming into full swing), "This book tells of a year of my life. It is about my reactions to the efforts of some social scientists (and a good many other people as well) to provide us all with new ways to see and hear and leap and sing---and, in several senses of the word, to touch one another."

She describes in 16+ chapters her experiences in a wide variety of groups, such as "Sensitivity Training for Couples," Synanon, a "Nude Sensitivity Training Workshop," Esalen, "Interracial Workshops," various "encounter groups," etc.

She only attends each briefly, so this is definitely a "high-level" overview of the field, but her impressions are interesting, and this was definitely an interesting period of time to have investigated such groups.
