4th and 5th Grade students love this book!,

This review is from: Please Write In This Book (Paperback)
We are a group of 4th and 5th graders at International School of Bangkok, and we loved Please Write in This Book. It was different from any other book we have read before---in a good way! It's unique because it's a notebook ,and yet it still has a storyline with funny and realistic characters. Things happen in this book that would really happen with kids, and this is what made it very fun and interesting to read. We feel that it's a phenomenal book, and we think that kids from 3rd grade to 6th grade would really love it.

Please Read this Book!,

This is a fun, lighthearted book about a class journal gone wrong.
Mrs. Wurtz leaves a blank notebook in the Writer's Corner for her students to find, with the rules to have fun and to sign your name to what you write. Feelings get hurt and rumors spread (but this is a kid's book, so it's mainly about how bad various people's feet stink) and the book almost gets taken away. The entire story is just what has been written in the book, so various prospectives are told on class events and some are just alluded to. I think there may have been a lot more tears than just the ones mentioned. We learn some lessons about teamwork and how not to solve problems and how easy it is to accidentally hurt feelings. Mainly though, it's fun to read the different fonts and see the different pictures the kids have drawn to compliment their writing, and even if Lizzy thinks he's mean, Luke (rhymes with puke) is pretty funny. Fans of Kate Klise's Regarding the Fountain and the others in that series will like this.

I don't know if this book was actually written by students or not (and the author just compiled the children's stories), but if it was, it's the most ingenius collaboration of children's journal entries, ever. It's humorous, and it's great for adults and children (ages 7 and up, most likely) - not just kids!

Ms. Wurtz leaves a blank book for students to find in the Writer's Corner of the classroom. They Find it, and a lively correspondence begins within its pages. Factions emerge soon enough, with Lizzy and Yoshiko striving for literature, and Luke ("rhymes with puke") and his buddies writing for the sole purpose of howling with laughter. The personalities come through sharp and etched in multiple alternating entries in the blank book. The many voices allow us to sense the peacemakers and the provocateurs, the self-absorbed and the anxious, and Milton the fact-hound who keeps trying to make serious sense out of all the verbal posturing. Mary Amato has nicely captured the high-tension social life of elementary school and crafted an amusing story in the context of a classroom focused on student inquiry. Eric Brace's funny spot drawings could induce the kind of laughter that makes teeth go flying out. This one is for the real teachers like Ms. Wurtz in whose classrooms, tests notwithstanding, students trade notebook entries, are permitted to generate conflict on the page, and get to resolve it in real life. This book is not only fun to read, it could spark weeks of interactive reading and writing in an elementary classroom.

This was an awesome book and even though it's for younger kids it still enteritianed me! Marry Amato herself acctually Skyped with our 7th grade class! This book has no plot or identafiable piont of veiw but it was every interesting! It sounded af if a read kindergarden or first grade class wrote inside of the book! It was a true journal of the class since there was no part when there was a break from the childern writting to tell outside events! This book would be great to read by yourself or aloud (even my siblings liked it) becuase it was humorous and creatively written.

It's a different kind of chapter book. This is a fun way to take a peek into another classroom. The kids of Ms. Wurtz's class get to write in this book everyday sharing what goes on at school. This is very entertaining and has a lot of great comedy. You should buy this book because of the great stories and funny illustrations. Mrs. Amato is a really funny writer!

Events are hilariously told in this fine story,

A notebook hidden in a Writer's Corner of the library entices kids to write their ideas about school and life - and soon the notebook is causing trouble as it becomes filled with rumor and innuendo. From a Stinky Feet Experiment to Worm Day, events are hilariously told in this fine story for younger readers in grades 2-4 seeking something different in easy books.
