About the Author

Married for almost 10 years, Toneal has experienced almost every issue that marriage has to offer; yet she is still standing, and her marriage is stronger than ever. Toneal wants to share with couples everywhere the importance of incorporating God into the relationship, not just at the beginning, but throughout the entire process. Her experiences have taught her that marriage can be trying, but rewarding. We don't have to give in to the enemy and surrender to our marital issues, thereby increasing divorce rate. If we communicate, stop pointing the finger at our partner, and begin to apply these essential traits to ourselves, we too can find the road to h.a.p.p.i.n.e.s.s.

The desire for self help manuals remain strong whether it's to see if we are doing a thing right or truly to seek help, either way we are ministering a hunger for these books . I didn't think I would gain anything from this book, one I'm not married and two, is there anything new under the sun? Well this 36 page book left me smiling and smiling some more.

You see I learnt a few things and I can see myself and my partner working through some of our issues MUCH better due to the information gleaned in this book. Pleasing Your Partner: A Spiritual Guide to H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S will furnish you with a set of suggestions for a balanced relationship. Practical suggestions before getting married, while you are married and when you find yourself and your marriage in trouble, because face it as Jackson says under the chapter titled "Assurance" nothing will ever be perfect and that includes your marriage.

Each chapter is broken down into short, sections which spell out the acronym for H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S; that suggest practical exercises, discussion questions, reflection and activities. I enjoyed that each chapter also started with a scripture that fit perfectly with the chapter titles. Personally I had to say OUCH, as I was reading the S chapter (Strength). You see I have a slightly controlling personality and my partner is very laid back. I'm also a communicator, but my partner is NOT. When I am ready to talk I'm ready not thinking that in order for my partner to hear me I need to "convey the message in a way that works BEST for them-not us" wow and OUCH OUCH OUCH. Maybe now my partner will stay tuned in because I am speaking their language, or one they can understand better. Thank you Mrs. Toneal I LOVE THIS.

I absolutely loved Toneal Jackson's "Pleasing Your Partner: A Spiritual Guide to H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S." After reading it, I immediately asked my husband to read it. This is something I've never done, asking him to read something I've read. Later that night, we discussed it. It gave us an opportunity to discuss H.A.P.P.I.N.E.S.S.

We got married knowing the statistics. Yes, I was a little afraid but I'm determined NOT to be a statistic of divorce. Lots of couples get married for all the wrong reasons and as soon as a difficulty or a tough time rears its ugly head, they are ready to throw the towel in and give up. Jackson's guide offers encouragement and inspiration. It's a quick read that opens up more than your eyes. She starts each section off with scripture and ends it with discussion questions. You learn more about yourself as well as your partner. Like Jackson says, "The reality is that it takes a lifetime to build a marriage."

Pleasing Your Partner: A Spiritual Guide to Happiness is a good book for people considering marriage to read. It can also be a reinforcement tool for a couple in their growth as such. Toneal M. Jackson wrote a book that would be a great resource/activity for persons going through marriage classes as this accompanied with individual, couple and group discussions would be effective.
