3.0 out of 5 stars sameness
This was the first Aphrodisia and Mellor book I have read. The storyline and characters were believable and I liked the descriptions of what the men and women were each doing, feeling (emotionally and physically), and thinking. The author alternated between the man and the woman. The scenario was the same in each of the three stories and that became tired: a man and woman...

Pretender

McCall needs to get away. She heads to a beach house to escape her troubles where she promptly falls asleep naked on the bed. Derek also needs to get away. So he heads to his house on Pleasure Beach. Making a stop at his friend's to retrieve his birthday present, he is thrilled to discover his naked gift asleep on the bed. McCall is overwhelmed with ecstasy by her dream lover. Derek can't remember ever having better sex.

The next day, coming face to face with her erotic fantasy, she decides to be the wild woman she has always wanted to be, but never dared. Derek is just itching to get his hands on McCall again. Using secret identities, they begin a passionate affair that quickly sweeps them off their feet. Derek is falling hard and fast for McCall and McCall is falling just as hard for Derek. But what will happen when their identities are revealed?

I love this story! I fell for Derek as quickly as he fell for McCall. Derek is caring, tender, and so hot. McCall is sensuous and adventurous. Deciding to release her inner bad girl brings her the greatest joy and passion she has ever known. McCall and Derek are so deliciously passionate the pages practically catch fire! I adore them. Pretender is a very scorching, romantic, and fun story.

Same time Next Week

Kinsey is contemplating getting married. She's not sure Zachary is who she wants to settle down with though. Trying to sort through her feelings after her friends bachelorette party, Kinsey heads to her room. Getting into the elevator, she backs into the hottest man she has ever met. The desire and attraction between Kinsey and Marc is instantaneous and intense.

After sharing a passionate kiss, they head to her room to indulge in all kinds of erotic delights. Kinsey soon finds herself spending the weekend with Marc at his house on Pleasure Beach. At first Kinsey thinks this her last fling before she settles down with boring Zachary, but Marc quickly begins to mean more to her. Marc is overwhelmed with his growing feelings for Kinsey as well. One weekend turns into every weekend. They know nothing personal about each other, which takes it's toll, leading to their making assumptions about each other that makes a real mess of things.

Same Time Next Week is fun and playful. Marc definitely has a penchant for food with his sex. I have never been a big fan of food play, but Marc made it entertaining to read about. Kinsey is beautiful and sexy. She is more than willing to indulge in some yummy erotic scenarios with Marc. Marc's attraction to Kinsey is endearing as he falls hard and fast. There are some really funny moments in Same Time Next Week as well as a ton of hot passionate sex! It's a fun read.

Jack of Hearts

Jack is at his house on Pleasure Beach nursing his wounds after his breakup. While standing on his deck he spies a gorgeous woman sun bathing and walks over to say hello. He is stunned to discover his sisters friend Royce, who has always been more of an annoyance to him. Royce is definitely off limits. Or so he thinks.

Royce has always been attracted to Jack and now that he is available, and standing in front of her, she would love to act out all of the wicked fantasies she has always had with him in mind. Jack is not looking for serious. Neither is Royce, although, with a little more encouragement from Jack, she could be persuaded to change her mind. Jack is stubborn and tries desperately to keep his distance, but his resistance fades quickly. However Jack will have to change his ways if he wants to keep Royce in his bed, and in his life.

Jack of Hearts has a lot of emotion in it. Jack thinks he knows what he wants, but then Royce has him re-thinking his original plan. Royce is sweet. She is vulnerable and unsure of herself, but knows she wants Jack. Together they create some serious heat. They are adventurous and can't get enough of each other. Jack of Hearts was heartwarming and hot.

Pleasure Beach is a very steamy book. All three stories are entertaining and romantic. The men are handsome, successful and sexy. The women are gorgeous, sweet and passionate. Although the stories follow a similar plot with just a change in scenarios, I really enjoyed it. I laughed, I sighed, and each story had a heartwarming ending which I loved.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great, hot read, August 20, 2006
This review is from: Pleasure Beach (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
PLEASURE BEACH is a "triple the fun" book. You don't get one juicy love story, but three, all taking place in a beach front house. P. J. Mellor writes hot, sexy and erotic. Her characters have pasts to overcome and deceptions to straighten out. Each of the three couples need to learn to forgive before they can love. Not a book to be missed if you like it any way you can get and then some. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love the Beach, May 23, 2006
This review is from: Pleasure Beach (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
This was the 4th Aphrodisia book I have read. I loved the beach theme and the writing was good too. This is an author I'll happily pick up more from. She is not my usual style but I found I liked it a whole lot.

The plot could have stronger but the characters were well thought out.

This was the first Aphrodisia and Mellor book I have read. The storyline and characters were believable and I liked the descriptions of what the men and women were each doing, feeling (emotionally and physically), and thinking. The author alternated between the man and the woman. The scenario was the same in each of the three stories and that became tired: a man and woman who normally wouldn't do this sort of thing spend some relaxing time at a beach house, the woman loses her inhibitions, the woman melts in the arms of and under the physical and emotional attentions of a Man, and they learn to love each other in spite of their differences. I didn't like the third story as well as the other two, I would give the book 4 stars otherwise.

5.0 out of 5 stars three fun erotic romances, January 28, 2006
This review is from: Pleasure Beach (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
"Pretender". Sunshine International accuses employee McCall Lindsay of embezzling funds from the Summers Group. Her friend arranges for the beleaguered woman to hide on Pleasure Beach on South Padre Island. Derek Summers, CEO of the Summers Group also arrives at Pleasure Beach. After assuming she is a hooker, they make love, but she fails to correct his mistake. Over that weekend they fall in love, but once their names surface their fantasy will end.

"Same Time Next Week". At Pleasure Beach single business consultant Kinsey Carlyle is thinking of accepting a proposal from boring dentist Zachary Taylor when she meets reconstructive surgeon Marcus Wallace, who suffers from cardiac problems. They exchange first names and no more as they make love. However he wants more as he loves Kinsey, but becomes angry when he learns she is married with kids as he wants her everyday not just next week, but a punch in the eye makes him see double while revealing the truth to him.

"Jack of Hearts". Cardiologist Jack McMillan travels to his vacation house on Pleasure Beach to forget being dumped by Mardee. However, living next door is the best friend of Mardee's sister, talk show hostess Royce St. Clair. As the two argue over everything in life, they make love and fall in love, but he suffers from commitment phobia caused perhaps by his wondering if he could be fickle or rebounding.

These three fun erotic romances will heat up readers as the lead couples seek pleasure initially, but gain so much more.

I really enjoyed this book by PJ Mellor. All the stories were sexy, pure fantasy, and not something I'd ever associate with "real life". Which is what I love about a good book. It's a chance to just fantasize and "get away", preferably in a hot bubble bath.

5.0 out of 5 stars Confession Time, January 11, 2009
This review is from: Pleasure Beach (Aphrodisia) (Paperback)
I'd never read a book like this in my life. The only reason I did is because I know P.J.

I had certain expectations before I began, but Pleasure Beach dispelled all of them.

This is a book of romance that is as good as any of them.
