These guys are the best band I've listened to ever! I've seen them in concert also and they rock the house! I recommend buying this cd along tih the first album "Somewhere in Between"

While not as strong as the debut, still very good,

Systematic's debut was a thing of brilliance. The follow-up, Pleasure to Burn, is still very strong, though not as brilliant. It has some standout tracks on it. "Pleasure to Burn", "Shine", and "Change" are all great metal songs. "Leaving Only Scars" sounds kinda like an early 90s Alice In Chains type song, and "Infected" is very developed. This album is strong, which is nice, proving that Systematic still are a great band. It is an indicator of potential greatness. If they just take one more step, they will break huge.

This album equally matches the greatness of Systematic's debut album Somewhere In Between. I thoroughly enjoyed the whole album and not one song screams skip me. Definately a better mixture of melodies and powerful riffs, which makes for a great listen that is hardly ever boring. All tracks hold their own as great songs and everything is put together well. This band deserves everything they get and so much more. So if you like rock and you like it real and not linkin park style, then get this album now, you won't regret it! Also get their debut if you haven't already!

Systematic's Sophmore Release,
By
This review is from: Pleasure to Burn (Audio CD)
'Pleasure To Burn' is Systematic's second album released late 2003. This is infact a continuation from their debut album with crashing guitar riffs and a turn toward the fine line between hard rock and dark metal. If you like bands like 'Godsmack, Staind or Linkin Park', you should enjoy systematic because this band who went on the road with each band has matured and learnt their lessons from the road and brought onboard two new band members. This is hard rock with bits and pieces of smashing metal and snarling menacing vocals.
The best songs on this album for me were 'Not Like You', 'Right Before You' and 'Shine'.

Decent Disc With One Stunning Song,
By
This review is from: Pleasure to Burn (Audio CD)
In many ways you could call this typical post-grunge hard rock. The tunes are decent, mostly radio-ready dark rockers with a bit of an Alice In Chains feel to both the melodies and the delivery. But right in the middle of this decent, but not captivating, disc is 'Right Before You', which is so strong it makes the tunes around it vaporize. The lyrics are pretty standard, but delivered with gutsy power. And the chorus is a beautiful, slow-rolling groove that will stick in the mind of any fan of heavy riffs. This song is so damn good that it pretty much justified the price of the disc for me. I hope the band has more like this in store.

Though I think that their first album was better than this, anyone who liked the first should give this new one a listen. Its not as catchy as the first album but the hooks are there. At first listen I have to admit I was dissapointed, but after a couple more spins I realize that I was being too hard on this album. After all, its still has more integrity and better songs than anything else that is radio-friendly. If you liked the last album, its worth it to check this one out.

this is hard-hitting rock. Lots of catchy and cool riffsand licks. But it's not as good as their first album. Some parts on this one are, to quote a term none of you might understand, "weven" (derived from, and rhymes with "even"). there is nothing approaching the evil guitars and high vocal wailing of "dopesick" or the instant-gratification "pitch black" of the debut. so i'm a little disapopinted. the feel is very dark and the lyrics good. the bass tone is too clean for me. tracks 3-5, 10-11 are standouts.

This album is a wonderfull example, of a heavy hitting hard rock album. If you are looking for rap rock, this is the wong place. This album is straight forward heavy rock with good lryics and a singer you can understand! These are qualities you only dream of in a rock band. Well now they are here with Systematic. While you have this album why dont you pick up there debut somewere in between?

even though the collection of 30 second samples would lead one to think that systematic was a band that really wanted to be like alice in chains, they really just want to suck like lane staley's heroin addiction. this is one of those bands that tries to combine the angst of grunge/alternative with the whining sissiness of emo. that combo just never works for me bucause emo sucks! hard! i don't know why people listen to it (maybe somthing having to do with why all guys want to look like girls now) but i wish that they would stop letting emo infect other forms of music. if you emo kids wanna be sissy girls thats fine, but keep your gayness out of alternative music and put back in show tunes where it belongs.

What Kind Of Band Are We?,

Systematic masterminds Tim Narducci(vocals) and Adam Ruppel(guitars) have a slight problem. They can't quite decide what they want to do. Their sound ranges from AIC/Soundgarden sludge, "Infected" and "Leaving Only Scars," to more Metallica-like riffs, "Pleasure To Burn" and "My Soul Was Lost." Narducci's vocals are well done, but again suffer from the above problem. Considering their 1st record was mostly a metal affair, I was surprised, but not disappointed, in the change. Everything here rocks and doesn't sound as weighed down as their last offering. Now if only they can decide where to go from here.
