This was the 1st "Omar" CD I owned. Bought it as an import in 1994 and with in months, Omar became my favorite soul/r&b artist. Omar mixes different vocal ranges into an unique blend of soulful grooves. This CD contains many of his soulful classics that bless underground radio today, 9 years later: I'm Still Standing/ Little Boy/ Need You Bad/ Making Sence Of It...If you're like many who are just now introducing yourself to Omar because of his vocals on Common's "Eletric Circus", this is the perfect CD to start out with. oNe

This CD is great! Omar's voice is excellent. The songs on the CD are great. I was given this CD as a gift, and I hadn't even heard of Omar before that. I was hooked from Track 1, which is just an interlude.
This CD is very easy to listen to from beginning to end. I've introduced several people to this CD since, and everyone has liked it a LOT! Omar is a great mix of R&B/Jazz...and his ballads are on point! Check out "Little Boy". Angie Stone did a version of this also, but I still prefer Omar's. Fave tracks: Little Boy Magical Mystical Way Need You Bad I'm Still Standing Don't miss out on this one. And at the price, it is SO well worth it. Pick this up if you're interested in some good music and someone with a different sound...

It's crazy I am happy that Omar is getting the love he deserves...one of my favorites along with Incognito ('Bluey' is incredible)...long time fan and endorser all of his work!!! Simply ancestral/spiritual sounds with a contemporary passion...he has been credited as the 'father of neo-soul'!!! I love it, a guy from England helped expand the minds of folks here in the U.S. Reminiscient (sp?) of Stevie Wonder, Prince, and a few others rolled into one griot^^^^^~~~

A perfect integration of soul, pop, R&B, hip hop, raggae and classical music. This album is simply a masterpiece and everyone I have ever turned on to it instantly loved it and questioned why they had never heard this cat before.

This was my first cd by Omar. I've spent the better part of 8 years looking for his imports after listening to this CD. If you truly love music and yourself GET THIS CD (if you can find it). VAJRAYAN the Tantric ONE

Omar's work on this album is exemplary. I first got introduced to his music in like 91 or 92, with There's nothing Like this I was about 11 or 12 yrs old at the time, but was still able to appreciate the delicate romanticism laden in the tune...and that's exactly the kind of magic that pervades most of Omar's later works. On this cd, his 1yrics are playful yet still on point enough to get the message across. Tracks like I'm Still Standing, Magical Mystical Way and Little Boy are sure to wow the listener because they are so smooth, so unlike bland pop that's on the radio these days. In fact, I dare say that I have serenaded many a sweetheart with that tune, Little Boy: Five years and still waxing strong! Definitely worth a pickup!
Track Listing: 1. My Baby Says 2. I'm Still Standing 3. Saturday 4. Keep Steppin' 5. Magical Mystery Interlude 6. Outside 7. Little Boy 8. Need You Bad 9. Can't Get Nowhere 10. Confection 11. Magical Mystical Way 12. Making Sense Of It 13. For Pleasure 14. It's All About

If I had the misfortune of being stuck on a desert island for the rest of my life but allowed to bring only one album, this would be the one. R&B magic.

This is probably the best R&B album of the 90's. Trust me. (Features Leon Ware and Lamont Dozier on some of the tracks)

I heard this album many years ago in London. I've wanted it ever since but could not find it here in the US. I decided to treat myself for my birthday when I found it on amazon. I had a big smile on my face when it came this afternoon. Turned on my system, Had my Gallo 3.5 ready to play, opened up the package then my heart sank. The CD was not the full album. My favorite track "Keep Steppin"
was not listed on the dammed thing. I am so pissed off. DON'T BUY ANYTHING FROM NEW CHAPTER RECYCLING INC!!!!!!!!! |
