5.0 out of 5 stars The Pleasure to Remain So Heartless
This is an outstanding record. Not without its flaws, but it is an amazing release from an amazing band. As soon as you put this CD in, you will experience the gut-wrenching, indie/hardcore onslaught like a bullet to the stomach. A band that can incorporate fluid, experimental yet impressive guitarwork, hardcore-style drumming, and vocals that are some of the most diverse...

1.0 out of 5 stars Same stuff, different name. The death of modern rock.
Since the early 90's "rock" has been watered down to the point of unrecognition; this is the formula for the Kand Hodder album The Pleasure to Remain So Heartless. Lyrics??? What lyrics??? Art??? Sure, songs titled Patrick Swayze is sexy....go back to Warped Tour and don't come back to Washington, we don't want that commercialized screaming over here. Their drummer...

This is an outstanding record. Not without its flaws, but it is an amazing release from an amazing band. As soon as you put this CD in, you will experience the gut-wrenching, indie/hardcore onslaught like a bullet to the stomach. A band that can incorporate fluid, experimental yet impressive guitarwork, hardcore-style drumming, and vocals that are some of the most diverse in the music scene today into one multi-genre bending sound deserve more recognition than Kane Hodder get. This is one of the few hardcore records that will have you dancing away, and feeling good about yourself. The vocalist/lyricist writes fantasticly and sometimes bitterly honest lyrics ranging from sex to sports casters to more sex and back again. The guitarists are great at what they do, in such a manner that they can write a flawless 21-second dual solo ("I Think Patrick Swayze is Sexy"), and they have created multiple instances of guitar mastery that will set you ablaze. The drums and bass continually flow in a constant motion throughout the record, and the bassist also shows listeners he has the ability to play along his blazing conterparts on guitar ("Heaven Help Me! I Love a Psychotic!").

This record is incredible, never ceasing to amaze and never letting up. Kane Hodder grab the listener by the senses and never let you go on this release, and it is nothing short of a masterpiece. To choose a stand-out track would be an understatement: this band has written a record that takes memorable to a whole new level.

5.0 out of 5 stars their energy makes the record, January 29, 2011
This review is from: Pleasure to Remain So Heartless (Audio CD)
Not much to say. These songs kick ass, and their energy makes it really great. I don't really understand the negative reviews. I play jazz, so this sort of band is totally not my thing.. but I was looking through my old cd's the other day and I put this one on and remembered how much I loved it.

5.0 out of 5 stars dont listen to that hypocritical jargon... this cd is great, February 22, 2006
This review is from: Pleasure to Remain So Heartless (Audio CD)
ok, so i NEVER write reviews, because really its a waste of time to me. but in this case im making it a point to, because there is so much trash talk about this album from people that obviously have NO clue what theyre talking about...

first off, when i first bought this cd a while ago, i didnt know what to think... these guys are just all over the place. with their crazy guitars and their shifty vocals, i was baffled... i didnt know whether to hate it or love it. and of course, as many times as that happens to me, i give it another try. and i loved it! this is the height of originality... i cant think of a single other band that i can even come close to comparing them to. im not going to get into explaining every guitar riff and every lyric, im just giving an honest opinion. will you like it? only if you like totally original stylings with mixes of screaming, heavy guitars, almost opera singing, mad drum beats, and chaos...

Cause that's what you'll be doing while listening to Kane Hodder. Not only is Kane Hodder incredible live & amazing playing through my stereo.. but they're the raddest guys in all of Washington. The Pleasure.. was probably one of the best CD's i purchased in 2005. The mix of dance & hardcore along with Andy Moore's intense vocals makes for good times. Everyone has said nothing but bad. I can honestly say that I love this CD and The Pleasure.. is probably the best CD put out on Fueled By Ramen.

Sure, songs titled Patrick Swayze is sexy....go back to Warped Tour and don't come back to Washington, we don't want that commercialized screaming over here. Their drummer unfortunately only knows maybe 5 beats, though that's probably an overstatement. Without a good drummer, there can be no such thing as a good band. Maybe with a new drummer, their next album might just slightly stand out, however doubtful. Don't buy this CD. I can write/play better music w/o a pen or guitar.

1.0 out of 5 stars All the songs sound the same, December 15, 2005

Bad lyrics, and even worse guitar playing. What do you get when you put them together? An album to stay away from, unless you like that combo.

1.0 out of 5 stars The Pleasure to Remain so Artless, December 11, 2005
This review is from: Pleasure to Remain So Heartless (Audio CD)
You can put this band in line with the rest of the B-rate Warped Tour bands who can't write or sing or play music to a level worthy of having a CD. This is some of the most repetitive guitar playing I have heard in a "Rock" band. With some improved lyrics and a decent guitar player, this band may have a chance of surviving more than a couple of years. Either way, whatever Kane Hodder was going to do for the music scene, its arleady been done, which was waste people's time when they could have been listening to real music. Fall Out Boy sucks too.

The first time i listened to Kane Hodder ("I Think Patrick Swayze Is Sexy") I didn't like it, and thought the singing/screaming patterns were unlistenable...but it grew on me...and this CD is ver y good..i give it a 5 because the CD never gets dull....i can now listen to it straight through with no skips.

Favorites: "I Think Patrick Swayze Is Sexy" , "Attack On Tir Asleen"
