5.0 out of 5 stars THIS IS AN AMAZING BOOK
This book proves that pleasure is not just a self-indulgent pursuit of shallow people but a very positive and profound way to approach life. 1.0 out of 5 stars The Pleasure Zone
I think Stella's got too much time on her hands-and wants a lot of money anyway she can get it. Tell me-Did she get her groove back or not?

This book proves that pleasure is not just a self-indulgent pursuit of shallow people but a very positive and profound way to approach life. Dr. Resnick gives good information substantiated by research that the better you feel the more energy you have and the better you treat others. Her writing style is clear, personal, and reads easily. Most important, I could really relate to her examples and I used her exercises at the end of the chapters to experiment with some of her suggestions. It has made a real difference in my life and all the people I have recommended the book to have also gotten a lot out of it. I can honestly say that reading The Pleasure Zone has been a powerful experience and I'm happy to pass on the good news.

5.0 out of 5 stars changing negative behaviors to positive behaviors, January 29, 2006

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: The Pleasure Zone: Why We Resist Good Feelings and How to Let Go and Be Happy (Paperback)
I enjoyed this book. What made the book REAL for me was the fact that the author was willing to share her own personal experiences with abuse in her own childhood - very frank and courageous which made everything she wrote real and challenging to me and can be for any one who has found themselves "stuck" and looking to learn how to think "outside the box". I would recommend this book - as learning how to allow happiness and to
change the negative ways we sabotage our own personal happiness is just great and life affirming. A challenge to anyone seeking to change their life at any stage.

5.0 out of 5 stars Open Your Mind To Good Experiences, December 21, 2005
This review is from: The Pleasure Zone: Why We Resist Good Feelings and How to Let Go and Be Happy (Paperback)
"In The Pleasure Zone, Stella Resnick offers a number of personal experiments for increasing pleasure. Here's one: 'In a relaxed and experimental frame of mind, look around the area surrounding you and see what pleases you visually. You may see a print in a frame or a pretty view out your window. Look for vividness of color, a pattern of geometric shapes, lines converging and separating, a metallic sheen or patina, a play of light and shadows. Then close your eyes and see what you can recall of what you just saw. What images or colors stand out for you? Open your eyes and compare the true image with what you imagine.' Enhancing visual memory sharpens our ability to truly see what is in front of us, the world in all its majesty and splendor." (review by M.J.Ryan, author of The Happiness Makeover)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good and cheap, May 9, 2009
The book took a little longer to get here than I expected, a little over 3 weeks. And it was in not so good condition as the seller claimed. It has water stains all over the cover, but I can't complain becuase the book only cause $.01. So overall great purchase.
