5.0 out of 5 stars Gunt's Magic Touches the Tra la la of the Young and Old, July 25, 2006
This review is from: Pleasureman (Dig) (Audio CD)
It's a no no, but you like it. Gunther's senusous yet demure interpretation of the Europ pop genre places this CD on everyone's must-have list. As a classical musician, I appreciate Gunther's contemplative and balanced sensibilities. This album sparkles and shines with talent, innovation comparable only to David Hasselhoff's latest b-side. You will not regret purchasing this future classic. Makes a great gift!

I had the good fortune of meeting the Gunt in Christmas 2005. I was tired of Bing Crosby and his tame interpretation of "White Christmas." Deep in the night, I was looking for some Gunther. My salivating lust for the Swedish pop idol compelled me to fly from Santiago Chile to Stockholm in the hopes of encountering the legend himself. Whilst sipping on Manhattans at the Red Herring, my wishes were fulfilled. First, I saw the mullet. Then, I saw his round, firm bottom, which I had worshipped countless times on the internet. Then, I saw the moustache and my heart stopped. He looked me over and whispered in a voice dripping with testosterone: "I'm looking for some fun." Now, whenever a bell rings at Christmas time (ding dong) I think of that magical night at the Red Herring and how Gunther touched my tra-la-la.

5.0 out of 5 stars So bad, it's awesome., December 2, 2006

This is like Aqua's semi-classic album Aquarium: it's such a terrible album, it turns out to be an awesome album. Whereas Aquarium was awesome because of its infectious tunes and bad lyrics, Pleasureman is awesome because of its infectious tunes and atrocious lyrics. The music you'll find when you pick up this album is so ridiculously catchy, it's not funny.

Although Ding Dong Song is the most well-known track (anyone who regularly visits YTMND knows that), the other tracks on the album are just as awesome, particularly the title track. The title track is a ridiculously infectious toe-tapping, brain-bursting, orgasm-inducing techno track that wins at life. (cue "Price is Right" music)

There's not really much left for me to say, other than that deliciously twisted humor site I-Mockery has posted a review of it, as part of their "Albums That Sucked!" page. That review definitely does this album justice, and they even allow you to listen to a few tracks. [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars Its a no-no., May 2, 2006
This review is from: Pleasureman (Dig) (Audio CD)
Gunther is the ultimate man's man. I've been watching his internet videos for years just hoping he'd eventually release his album in America and finally it has arrived. I listened to it for the first time yesterday and it's brilliant. Don't get me wrong; it's absolutely terrible. But its one of the few times where something is so bad it's brilliant. Every song has a catchy beat that begs of a Roxbury solute. It's a lot catchier than anything I have heard on the pop channels for years. "I'm your man," is particularly great. It makes for a great accomplice to Halo matches. If you're a fan of the Gunt you have got to have it. After all, it's a no-no, and you like it.
