Clever jokes that you can enjoy over and over again,
By Charles Ashbacher (Marion, Iowa United States) - See all my reviews (TOP 500 REVIEWER) (VINE VOICE) (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)
This review is from: A Pleasury of witticisms and Word Play (Hardcover)
If you are even an occasional reader of works featuring wordplay then it is very likely that you will have already read many of the items in this collection. Published in 1975, many of the items had already been around for some time before they appeared in this book.
However, while the English language is a dynamic entity that is constantly changing, humorous wordplay has a very long half-life. Furthermore, like nearly all jokes based on cleverness, they can be enjoyed over and over again. Therefore, even if you have read many collections of wordplay, it is still possible to read this book and frequently crack a smile. |
