5.0 out of 5 stars The Toadies At Their Most Basic
The Toadies' 1993 EP "Pleather" is a fine helping of the early pre-Rubberneck sounds for those who can't find copies of their early EPs like Velvet and Slaphead. All the tunes on here rock hard. They are all very stripped down and raw sounding. Let's face it, The Toadies can't ever put out a bad record and even though its been six years since they put out...

3.0 out of 5 stars I bought it for Possum Kingdom
I was not familiar with the Toadies other than hearing the song Possum Kingdom on the radio. I bought the CD based on that. Possum Kingdom is an excellent song, but I found the others to be less enjoyable. I bought the CD used, so I don't consider it a wasted investment. Still, be cautioned if you are only familiar with the one song. You may want to listen to clips...

5.0 out of 5 stars Toadies ROCK!!!!!, February 17, 1999
By A Customer

I have both Rubberneck and Pleather. Rubberneck is better but Pleather has some awsome versions of the Toadies BEST songs. All the songs on here are demos so the Toadies sound heavier then the cd version of the Toadies. You MUST buy This cd please

5.0 out of 5 stars Toadies - Pleather, March 10, 2004

This cd is great! Especially if you're a fan of the toadies. There's not much of their stuff out there so this is a nice addition to anyone's collection. It also has a hidden track but it's mostly instramental, well besides the intro to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Early work from Austin bad..., March 12, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Pleather (Audio CD)
This is The Toadies at their most raw and thier best. This is the EP that was released prior to the smash-hit "Rubberneck." Each song is great, with excellent lyrics by lead singer Todd Lewis. The fact that this band is not together anymore is a compltete travesty. Our only hope is that someone at their record company will have a revelation and realize to put out a live Toadies CD. Until then, we are left with three great discs. If you do not have this CD, buy it, but be ready for a much more punk feeling than you get from "Rubberneck."

I own both pleather and rubberneck, and pleather is my favorite out of the two. Why u ask, because this is much heavier. And it's really hard to find at any down town music dealer store. THIS CD RULES!!!!!

I can only say in a time when we yearn for real music (2001) Toadies will always be there to supply it. So until G'N'R returns this summer this will continue to help you over all this prefab music out now.

1.0 out of 5 stars Toadies CD is a let-down..., January 14, 1999
By A Customer

Possum Kingdom was what I was after...it's by far the Toadies coolest tune. I listened to the others available and was not impressed. No wonder they never got any more publicity (or sales) ....only my humble opinion....
