Works better than expected and is reusable - yes, reusable., March 7, 2009
This is a wonderful product for removing pet hair from furniture. However, I didn't realize before I bought it that they expect you to throw it away after the container is full. What a waste as the roller is perfectly reusable. Ever the crafty one, I found a way to empty the container without taking the roller off as some have suggested. You can easily pull the lint, pet hair, etc., out of the container by rotating either roller from the center and outwards. You will discover that they are halves. Now with the opening between the rollers exposed, slightly lift one of the rollers open a bit further and gingerly pull the pet hair or lint through the opening. If you have a vacuum cleaner with one of those skinny attachments, suck it out with that. Presto, ready to use again!

Works Great But Only Meant for Limited Use, February 28, 2009
First off, I really wanted to give this product 5 stars, but there's one big reason I can't. Once the little container on the back is full, it's meant to be tossed. In my house - it lasted about 2 minutes and would end up costing us a fortune. However, with a little creativity you can make this product re-usable.
Had Pledge done that originally, and even sold it for twice the price, it would be a 5 star product. I agree with the prior review that there is NO reason they couldn't have done that. But yes, the product does say not to attempt to disassemble in any way.
This product worked wonderfully. Once I figured out how to empty and re-use it, it saved me HOURS of vacuuming furniture. I have a very large dog that is free to roam our home and sheds constantly. I used the product on many types of fabrics including a corduroy couch, microfiber/microsuede couch, pillows, cotton comforters, etc. It worked like a charm and was practically effortless.
The clear plastic container area on the back filled up in about 2 minutes. It is "riveted" on and cannot be removed. At the point it is full it's meant to be tossed. Not worth the $5 price for 2 minutes of work. However, I very carefully popped off one end of one of the rollers and was able to empty the container and then re-use the product. That could easily wear down or break the fasteners so in the end, to save time and money, we cut a U-shaped slit in the top of the clear plastic area and can open and close it to empty it and re-use. It took some manipulating to make sure the edges weren't sharp, but we made it work.
I really do think functionally this is a 5 star product but couldn't give it such for the mere fact that it's meant to be a throw away, and not re-used.

WASTEFUL throwback product, March 8, 2009
We have three shedding pets (a Black Lab, a boxer, and a fluffy cat), so we're always looking for ways to control the tumbleweeds of hair that accumulate in the apartment. After seeing the commercials for this product, I was eager to try it.
How it works: two half rollers covered with the same rough textured fabric that covers old school lint brushes. Roll it back and forth in short strokes across the upolstered fabric of your furniture. As one roller is picking up hair off the fabric, the other gets cleaned by the edge of that first roller, pushing the collected hair into a small container which doubles as a hand grip.
If you have a smooth surface, the hair comes up pretty easily, however surfaces like carpet, or with deeply embedded hair, require a lot more rubbing/scrubbing with the tool to pick up hair. I found this tool does a pretty good job, and having the collection container is a huge plus.
HOWEVER...the hair collection container is NOT REMOVABLE!!! This means, once the container fills with hair, you're supposed to THROW IT AWAY!
Um, WHAT? Are the people at Pledge seriously that far out of sync with the state of affairs in the world today??? You can see from the design that they COULD have made it removable, and probably the actual designer INTENDED it to be removable. Instead, they use bright blue plastic pins to hold tightly in place, what otherwise to be an easy to open snap cover. Unfortunately, they do NOT mention this in the commercial, or on the box, or I would have NEVER paid for this product. I do intend to cut off those pins, and re-use this product until it falls apart, then I'll be back to my other methods of hair removal, never to purchase this product again.
