spectacular,

Oh those two voices, he still has the high voice of the 60's, but now possesses an even greater baritone presence. This is by far Lou Christie's finest album.

there is still lightning in his music, voice and songs,
By A Customer

The lightning in his voice has never gone away. Here is a man who wraps his voice around such wonderful songs as "Pledging My Love" and "Mr. Dieingly Sad"; takes them and makes them his own. Tecno Pop reveals the cold, distant, selfish world we live in as Lou sings the lyric "People Don't Cry Anymore". In the song "Rita, Joanie and the Wayward Wind", he sings of a musician drifting from town to town stealing hearts recklessly then moving on. The song is intresting in that it is musically counterbalanced by the song The Wayward Wind from the musical Paint Your Wagon. A beautifully wonderful song "I'm Gonna Wait For You Baby" written by Lou and the late Tony Romeo, who wrote Lou's hit "I'm gonna make you mine", "I Think I Love You" for the Partridge Family ,and many other hits adds a pensiveness to the end of the C.D. all in all its great to hear one of the true icons of pop music demonstrate that fine wine gets better with age

Best Lou Christie Album in Years,
By Charles Epling (Houston, Texas USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pledging My Love (Audio CD)
This is definitely the best Lou Christie album since the early 60,s. Lou Christie has always been such a unique artist that you either love him or hate him. This new album will not disappoint his old fans, and it should please almost everyone, even those who have never heard of him. The song "Love In A Limousine" should be on the top 40 right now, and if the modern music industry was based on talent instead of marketing, this song would definetly be there. The title of this CD is somewhat of a mismomer however, in that it is probably the weakest track, and seems to be aimed at a 50's generation market. The rest of the album is more 70,s , which is where most of us are affectionally drawn to. I have been a hard core Lou Chrisie fan since I first heard "The Gypsy Cried". This album brings back that excitement, and let me say, that even though I have been around a few years, I am no oldies junkie. I haven't been this excited over an album since TLC's Crazy,Sexy Cool CD. Why? Good songs!-which is basically good lyrics & good melodies. The latest Lou Christie is the first album in a long time that I have been this excited about, and isn't this what good music is all about.

Mostly Average To Good Songs Recorded By A Superb Vocalist,
By masterbill "masterbill" (Long Island, New York) - See all my reviews

WARNING ALL WOMEN, DO NOT DRIVE WHILE LISTENING TO LOVE IN A LIMOUSINE OR YOU MAY CRASH AND BURN!Love In A Limousine is an all time great, classic song of lust characterized by a brilliant contrast of rich, mellow music, Lou's intense, pure, mellow, sensual, hypnotic, baritone vocals, raunchy lyrics and a vintage, soaring Lou Christie refrain, Techno Pop is a mellow song with a beautiful refrain, What Happened To The Nights is a good up-tempo song in which Lou still nails the high notes, and his recording of Mr. Dieingly Sad is a very good cover of the Critters classic song. Most of the other tracks are average to good songs which are elevated by the high quality of Lou's vocals. In my opinion, Lou's voice is even better than it was when he recorded his excellent pop hits in the 1960's. His maturation has resulted in a smoother, richer, baritone sound that few of today's recording artists can match.

A True Review From A True Lou Christie Fan,

Let me rephrase the title: A true die hard Lou Christie fan less than thrilled with the sound of Pledging My Love.
First and foremost, the problem with this album is not Lou's voice. Lou has one of the finest voices in rock history and still does. I just saw the guy perform live three weeks prior to this review. Here is the problem: The sound of this album is soft pop - a far stretch from the doo wop infused rock n roll flavor that drizzled over this amazing singer's recordings from the 1960's. There are no live drums and the instrumentation is cheesy. If you are a die hard Lou fan, buy this album for your collection. If you are not a die hard Lou fan, try his greatest hits compilations or the albums Paint America Love & Beyond the Blue Horizon. Pledging My Love |
