Not only is this book beautiful, it is also richly illustrated. Ruth Lilly Westphal created an important, highly useful educational and in my opinion an essential reference tool for art students, collectors, dealers and art historians interested in the California "Plein Air" art movement. It features artists biographies along with painting examples of each artist's works. Too bad about the plates,

It is unfortunate that many of the plates are small and that the printing quality is such that none of the brilliance of color or light is conveyed.
I would buy this book for the words alone but it is an art book so I want beautiful reproductions as well.
