In a race to be the first to deliver augmented reality eye wear, a software programmer with the ultimate solution begins to fold under the pressure.
Augmented reality contact lenses, dubbed Plenzes, slowly begin to take shape over years of development. The inventor Stuart Pauls, slowly begins to succumb to the paranoia of the race, to be the first to market.
Three years go by and Stuart and his wife Kimi become less and less a part of this world and more and more a part of the augmented world of the Plenzes. This is their story...
Here is a fast and furious past - present - future look into the minds of many growing up today. If you want to understand the current generation, start right here. That is not to say that you will understand them all; only that you will sense the currents running through this generation. You may also develop a sense of appreciation for what it up against. Should we help save them from themselves? Is their path inevitable? Or are they best left to sort this all out themselves? Much is pointing to the last approach. It may look insane at the moment, but those who are in the middle of it, learn to cope and to make sense of it. Something us typical mortals may never be able to do. Kudos to Chris for allowing himself to see it through their eyes.
I thoroughly enjoyed Plenzes by Chris Lang. It is a look at modern day sci-fi meeting todays's reality and technology. Chris Lang's book weaves a story of a new Augmented Reality into a fiction format that helps to convey an enjoyable and thought provoking message. With the recent passing of the great sci fi author Ray Bradbury Chris Lang begins to fill the void for very good science fiction reads.
Chris Lang's first Amazon release was well worth the price of admission. I could easily see it being a film or taken for a script for a television series. It reminded me of another Kindle Book that I currently am reading and it is of the SciFi genre, too. Plenzes had just enough reality to make it seem real, but enough of a glimpse into a future that also seemed disconcerting (if that is the right word). The adult language and content was not done to an extreme, and I suppose you have to add that into anything you do now to get sales. So with that the book was very much like how things are today and might be tomorrow. I think George Orwell and Ray Bradbury would definitely want to sit down and talk to Chris Lang. I just hope when they do I can be there. Great work on this book, Mr. Lang.
Chris Lang was one of the first to write a digital book in 1999 and since has written "Get It To The Inbox", "Wickedly Evil Social Marketing Tactics", "The Truth About Google+" and now his first fictional short story "Plenzes: Virtual Reality - Augmented Insanity" in 2012.
Born in Toledo, Ohio, in 1963, to a working class family in a very different world than the one we live in now, Chris considers himself an average everyday guy and wants nothing more than to tell you a good story.
Chris Lang has been a musician, a cook and then a chef and a restaurateur. Having owned the corner store, he has also watched the corner store disappear into today's corporate ruled world.
Chris has been rich and been poor, he has made great friends and fought great enemies. Like you he has loved and had his heart broke, and he has won much and lost more.
In 1999 he left his 15 year cooking career behind and bought a computer, then found himself building his first website 4 days later. Yes, Chris is a full fledged tech geek and an entrepreneur.
Chris originally built his reputation initially as an expert on social networking and social bookmarking in long before Twitter or Facebook became household names. In 2008 Jack Humphrey named Chris Lang the "Nostradamus of Google" for his uncanny ability to predict Google's future moves.
We hope Chris's passion for all things Internet and Google shines through in "Plenzes" and he looks forward to getting to know you all much better.
