THIS MACHINE IS QUIET AND RELIABLE. IT PROVIDES VERY GOOD QUALITY COPIES IN A TIMELY FASHION. EXCELLENT PURCHASE!!!

Very pleased with unit. It is not as big as I thought it would be. Slightly noisy but that's not a problem. no problems setting up and the 25 dollar gift card for the movie downloads was a nice bonus I would recommend this unit. this is my 3rd. external burner that I have. nice piece of equipment.

This seems to be a nice external DVD drive. It's a bit larger than I imagined but very solidly built. I don't really think much of the Roxio software. I've tried using the Sonic software (also a Roxio product) that came with my laptop and it seems to work better than the basic version of Creator 10 that came with the drive. But burning is not what I really bought this drive for....

I actually bought it as a player for European DVDs. A computer-based DVD drive can have its region code reset a limited number of times. I've set this one to Region 2 and am happily watching European DVDs. Of course the internal drive in my laptop does that too, but it's very thin and sometimes scratches a disc. Considering the cost of European DVDs, and the postage to get them across The Pond, I wanted a drive with headroom.

Oh yes, I can also connect my laptop to my flat-screen TV with an HD15 cable and watch those DVDs on the big screen.

I just received this disk drive today. I plugged it in, and immediately burned a karaoke disc using kJams. The CDG played just fine.

The thing that does seem odd is that the drive came with a plastic mount that allows you to set it up at a 90° angle. However, since the disc sits loosely in the drive drawer, it doesn't make any sense to set it up this way.

Initially at least, I have no cause for complaint.

I purchased this item and have burned approximately 3-4 audio disks successfully (along with the 30+ coasters that I've created!). I find the Roxio software horribly slow and have tried CDXPburner (a great program, by the way) to no avail. Basically, the burn begins and proceeds for anywhere from 0-50%, and then the drive stops and the software hangs.

I've also tried multiple media types, multiple systems, and multiple USB ports to try and isolate the problem without success.

For me, the product is not usable.

The burner rates high in burning speeds in any DVD or CD format. I have yet to have a coaster made after about a dozen burns. The burner seems to be solid built. However, Plextor, in the past would have a blinking LED on the front panel that had indicated a burn in progress. I have notice during a burn, the blue LED does blink, but is not a quick blinker as other Plextor burners that I have had. This one blinks while burning, but it is a very slow intermitting blinker... not a constant blinker that I am use to. Other than that, it seems to be a good burner. But of course, I have only had this burner for about a month and have only burnt less than a dozen burns.

Plextor makes a good product and that is why I bought it. It could be listed as a little high priced, but I like the idea of buying something and it works for years to come. My last Plextor lasted me 5 years and I could count the coasters on one hand. That is why I am staying with Plextor. I like products that are dependable. Only wished the little blue light would blink faster...

I've had the Plextor DVD writer for about a month now and it looks and works great! I haven't had one negative thought about the writer.

Thbis is a great prodtc. I did not use it at all for the QFlix service however I just wanted a good USB Super Drive and this is great. Super fast and extremely reliable. I purchased this with the idea of ripping my Karaoke CD+G discs to my hard drive but this drive does not work with CD+G... Apart from CD+G this is a great drive and is highly recommended.
