I have owned two external Plextor drives, this is my first internal one. It works like it's designed to. It is quiet and offers steady read/write performance. It reads quickly upon loading a disc, which is not common with all units. I bought this Plextor to replace a Samsung unit, which burned out after just 3 uses. Quite a surprise to me, but I chose to replace it with this Plextor, as I have had great success with my external Plextor drives, and found favorable reviews for this one on the internet. I recommend this one.

This is a solid buy.
Work flawlessly for Nero, Imgburn, ShrinkDVD, DvdFAB, windows build-in.
Quiet burning and run smoothly.

Worth every penny.

Wanted this to be my primary burner. Not happening. More problems with this drive than my less expensive LG & Samsung drives. Liked the Plextor Utilities until I got a new computer with Win 7. Utilities don't load and it's not worth messing with. Will leave the Plextor in the old computer & move the LG to the new one. Really disappointed.

Plextor sales assured us the PX-880 would be made by plextor themselves and not ANOTHER REBADGED INFERIOR DRIVE

tell them you will not buy another over priced inferior drive! Ask them to email you when they make a REAL-plextor and not another junk drive

Call plextor and complain:

I don't know what everyone's complaining about really. I've been using this brand for eons and they're the best out there. I've not had a single problem and I've got five drives of this brand, three of this model, running in my primary pc alone at the moment and they're whooping tail.

Keep in mind that the software you use to burn has alot to do with what kind of performance you can squeeze out of a drive. ALOT. If you're burning multiple disks at a time (especially), there are only a few applications out there that really do a good job of supplying your buffers.

I have no complaints and I know all!

I normally don't write too many reviews, but I figured I should if I could possibly save somebody else the Plextor nightmare that I've had. The first DVD burner I purchased was the Plextor PX-720. I thought I was buying the best drive from the best company. I figured since Plextor was a big name, it would deliver a decent product. Boy was I wrong! The drive lasted for barely over 8 months, during which time I burned less than a dozen discs. What a disappointment. By the time I called them, it was past the warranty period. So, foolishly I believed it was just a defective drive and the next would be better. So I purchased the PX-820. Again, over the next 11-12 months I burned only a handful of times, and the drive slowly stopped working. Eventually it was no longer even detected in Bios. I called and pleaded with customer support, and they refused to replace the drive because I was just past the 1 year warranty. Had this not happened to me twice in a row, I wouldn't be so upset about it. Plextor makes 1-year disposable drives and they have the absolutely worst customer support of any company I've ever dealt with! I will NEVER buy another Plextor product again, and if you care about your money and the hassle of replacing the drive so soon, then you should look elsewhere!

They have the WORST customer support we have ever experienced-

There is no live customer support unless you want to pay $29.00 for a product that only costs around $100. 30% of the cost?????????????????? Tony Soproano would be proud!

you have to e-mail for a key, it took 2 e-mails, and 36 hours for them to get back with me just to ask me to ask more questions and sell me a new product.

If you like to be shaken down, I'll buy off the street corner, otherwise stay away from this product & this company!!
