Out of the few dozen burners that I've used, I have to say that this is THE BEST that I've ever used. The drive is very fast and the included software is AWESOME! Add to that Plextors awesome support and you just can't find any better CD-RW! The only thing better is Plextor's new DVD burner that does it ALL.
I installed this in my bosses home computer so he could archive hundreds of CDs faster. He not only loved the drive but the SimpliCD software is his favorite part. SOOO easy!
Now I guess that I could mention that the guys at plextor are fanatics and leave no detail unattended to- even the color of the tray helps minimize the chance of errors while reading!

I bought a 48/24/48A a few months ago. Used it very little. However late this last year I decided to record my old vinyl record collection. First trime I tried my Plextor the door wouldn't open! So, as Plextor suggests, I powered off the maching and used a paper clip in the front access hole. A little inconvenient. The bottom line it failed to open in any subsequent attempts except with the paper clip. Called Plextor. Tech support said return the item for exchange with a repaired unit. Took over two weeks to get an return material authorization from customer support. Not feeling good about Plextor.

Finally, I shipped my unit and had the exchange unit in little over a week. Feeling better about Plextor. Installed unit. Door takes four tries to open. Feeling bad about Plextor. Called again. Sorry unit past warranty. Feeling very very bad about Plextor. They are on my list of Don't buy. As the saying goes "do me" once shame on you, "do me" twice shame on me.

If I could only get the door open I'm sure it would be an outstanding unit. But, that's only a theory. Now try to open the door. 8,10,15,etc tries then of course repeat to remove the CD.
