The Plextor M3S SATA 6Gb/s SSD series provides read/write speeds up to 525/445 MB/s in sequential mode and up to 70,000/65,000 IOPS in random mode. The M3S features True Speed technology and an extended five year ironclad warranty.
The M3S features exclusive firmware with True Speed, including Plextor's proprietary Bad Block Management, Global Wear Leveling, and Instant Restore technologies that optimize performance.
True Speed is an exclusive technology providing consistent high performance in real-life computing environments for the lifetime of the product. True Speed is designed to prevent drastic drops in read/write speeds that normally occur with SSDs after prolonged use or when data becomes heavily fragmented. True Speed technology will maintain the M3S' high performance and read/write speeds at like-new levels throughout the life of the drive. True Speed distinguishes Plextor SSDs from other SSD products because of sustained read/write speeds throughout the lifetime of the product.
M3S drives use a server-grade Marvell 88SS9174 controller chip for read/write speeds of up to 525MB/s and 445MB/s in sequential mode, and 70,000 and 65,000 IOPS for random read/write operations at 4K file size. The M3S supports SATA 6Gb/s and is backward compatible with SATA 3Gb/s and SATA 1.5Gb/s. It also uses the latest 24nm synchronous MLC NAND flash modules from Toshiba to further enhance product reliability. The DDR3 DRAM cache transfers data faster and helps extend lifetime of the drive. Also supported by the flash is a 1.8V power mode, providing the M3S with extremely low-power consumption.
Plextor strives to exceed industry standards with rigorous benchmark testing; before leaving the factory, each Plextor SSD is put through a 20-hour high temperature burn-in test and an intense simulation of real world environments. As a result, Plextor SSDs have a 0.59% average annual failure rate, which is one of the lowest in the industry.
Smart firmware combines three advanced technologies to sustain performance: Bad Block Management, Global Wear Leveling, and Instant Restore. Bad Block Management and Global Wear Leveling optimize the way data is written on the drive and Instant Restore is a technique that overcomes the problem of declining speed after prolonged usage.
The M3S supports advanced functions such as S.M.A.R.T. failure prediction, the TRIM command, NCQ optimization, and superior Garbage Collection to further increase performance and reliability.

Since this was my very first (and so far only) go at a SSD, I don't have a frame of reference how this drive stacks up with competing models. It works extremely well for me. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Andy
Before purchasing this SSD I was sold on the marketing of this product. It hasn't fail to live up to my expectations. Its fast and looks expensive. A very good purchase.Published 3 months ago by Jay
Had this for over a year now and haven't had a single problem. It just works. Very fast, definitely changed my whole PC experience. Everything is just so much more responsive. Read morePublished 5 months ago by Squatch
I purchased this SSD becsause I have been using Plextor Products for more than a decade without failures.
The drive is super fast and reliable. Read more
this is no exception, I like the looks and the performance. of course, since I have all this Plextor SCSI stuff, anything they put out is gonna get me hot and bothered.Published 7 months ago by Hon Lee
IT was not represented correctly and I thought it was a computer and not storage, so I sent it back and my money was refunded without any problem but for a person who doesn't know... Read morePublished 8 months ago by ldsmomof3
Fast, fast, fast! Glad I bought this to replace an OCZ that was iffy right out of the box, rocksPublished 9 months ago by Paul G. McCartney
5 stars. Got it over two years ago. Blisteringly fast still, even when I overload it and fill the disk 100% all the time (even though you shouldn't do it). Read morePublished 11 months ago by Swampfox
