Pleyel on december 1st, 1969 with: * Jimmy Smith - Hammond B-3 Organ * Eddie McFadden - Guitar * Anthony Crosby - Drums The tracks are: 1)sonnymoon for 2 2)ode to billy joe 3)days of wine and roses 4)got my mojo workin' 5)see see rider 6)a funky blues called I don't know 7)my romance 8)satin doll Gabriel Dumets said on 1969 about it: "Mr. Smith's Sermon Pleyel Hall, chapel for a night , filled with a large flock come to celebrate REVEREND Smith's return. Immediately dismissing the Oohs and Ahs, the PASTOR cuts short the welcome. From the start, his SERMON is fired up, the message is both affectionate aned seductive. CONTENTEDLY, THE EVANGEWLIST SMILES TO THE ANGELS...." The sound is superb. Here Jimmy plays as never in the other records. So if you have all Jimmy cds except this, you loose an important face of this jazz organist, that you don't know yet !!! Enjoy them !!!! P.S.: Check up my 3 listmanias about the ORGAN JAZZ !!!

Compressed Sounding,
By R. Dickerson "Voodoo Down" (Turtle Creek,WV) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pleyel Nov 20 1968 & Dec 1 1969 (Audio CD)
The music on this cd sounds like it was compressed on most of the songs. There is no deep bass line on it at all, the way Jimmy Smith played. It also sounds like this performance was rushed through.
