5.0 out of 5 stars Schenker,.....Way to Go
I finally picked up this disc with much hesitation. I am a huge UFO/Schenker fan and being the cd completeist that I am, I was quite bothered by this release. I viewed it as being some substandard demos that were the result of an aborted project. Well to a degree that remains true, however the music is so good it really doesn't matter what the facts are. versus
3.0 out of 5 stars for schenker completists this is ok.
The plot is a decent rock disc. It's not ufo or msg though it's closer to 'waysted" pete ways solo group. The music is crisp but the vocals are sadly lacking. As good as pete way is as a bassist he is not a great hard rock lead singer: unless you enjoy punk rock stylings. Many a great cd has fallen flat by not going for a seperate vocalist and this is like that but...

First of all, I feared substandard sound and production quality. I find the disc highly listenable and enjoyable. It doesn't sound demo quality. It really is crisp and clear. Jeff Martin's drum tracks are punchy and solid. Schenker's guitar tone is unmistakeable. It really has an album quality sound to it...Okay enough said there. The songs are simply great. They really do not sound punky, in as much as they sound like great bluesy rock and roll. I see it more Stonesy than anything. Maybe in some way this disc might serve as a glimpse into what the Rolling Stones would have sounded like with Scenker on guitar, had he joined them when offered. The material is very simple, but at the same time, really good. Here are two musicians in Michael Schenker and Pete Way who are both accomplished songwriters had have developed their craft over the past 30 years. These songs have a feel of being put together quickly and easily between the two of them. Sometimes that can be a bad thing, but not in this case. They are fresh and simple, yet catchy and enjoyable. Pete's vocals are not Phil Mogg in any way, but they aren't bad. I would compare them to a Keith Richards type style, which adds to the Stones comparision.
Overall this not in the same vein as MSG or UFO, but is proves to be an interesing glimpse into what these two great musicians and friends could hammer out together when getting together to jam and write a few songs. I would really recommend this disc to anyone who enjoys either UFO or just great, simple bluesy rock and roll music....Give it a try, you will enjoy it....

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Great Rock, June 9, 2005

This is just what all of us who grew up on 80's hard rock need to hear. It is so refreshing. Just plain, no-nonsense, in your face, kick butt rock. Michael is just magical. His melodic tone and heavy riffin' is all over this cd. Pete does not have a very good voice, but that does not matter, it really fits well with the music. Heck, does Lemmy have a good voice? Jeff Martin plays drums on this one and is really, really good, just check out the song "Kicked Out". One of Michaels' best solo's of all-time is on "Senorita". This is one of my favorite cd's of the last 10 years; I can't take it out of my player. Buy It!

5.0 out of 5 stars UFO INSPIRED BUT NOT DUPLICATED, October 13, 2003
By
This review is from: Plot (Audio CD)
OK first off Michael Shenker is GOD. This cd highlights everything I love about Shenkers guitar playing. The sound, the attitude and the catchy riffs that make you want to pick up a guitar and learn each and every note. Pete Ways vocals take a bit of getting used to, but they do grow on you after a few listens. The singing falls somewhere in between Lemmy and some drunk karaoke singer doing a decent Bon Scott impersonation. All in all a great cd that rocks from start to finish. For fans of UFO and Hanoi Rocks.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Dynamic Duo!, July 7, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Plot (Audio CD)
Well, Schenker and Way have done it. They have figured out a groove that would remove them from the UFO sound and still continue to Rock!... I grew up on UFO from the Phenomenom album on up and they have been one of my favorite bands, but recently, the reformed band sound just has not cut it. However, this disc sounds like the old UFO Schenker on guitar mixed with a heavy version of Mott the Hoople slamming head on with Motorhead. Pete Way has that slightly off tune voice that really catches on.
There really is not a bad song and is well produced. I highly recommend this disc...and as for Michael Schenker....I salute you for recognizing Christ! Stand tall, you are the man!

5.0 out of 5 stars UFO without Moog?, September 22, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Plot (Audio CD)
Schenker & Way original off & on members of UFO
are rock legends. They have written some of the
greatest rock songs of all time! This sounds like
early UFO but with Way on vocals & not too bad!
No he's not Phil Moog but who is? The songs are
hard rocking masterpieces w/little bit of punk
rock. This sounds like late 70's early 80's!
You don't hear music like this anymore. This is
what rock n roll should be. Live sounding with
bass, guitar, drums and vocals! Simple but great!
Why this didn't get a bigger release? I can say
to anybody that likes good simple hard trashy
rock n roll like Buckcherry/Faster Pussycat or
Pete Way's band Waysted will love this. Buy it!

4.0 out of 5 stars Like Amphetamine continued, September 14, 2010
This review is from: The Plot (MP3 Download)
This album is akin to Pete Way's Amphetamine record. Another great batch of songs. I'd call it old school metal, plenty of hard rock cliches to go around but this style of music is really unpopular now. Amaze your friends when you tell `em it's from the 21st century.

As good as pete way is as a bassist he is not a great hard rock lead singer: unless you enjoy punk rock stylings. Many a great cd has fallen flat by not going for a seperate vocalist and this is like that but the playing and great songs do make up for it alot. So this is disc for completists of Ufo and michael schenker first and formost. Or for fans of hard rock who like really raspy vocals. I love UFO and Schenker so this was a must for me but I really enjoy those other groups far more than this one which to be fair was a side project for these great musicians.

5.0 out of 5 stars Killer!!!, September 13, 2008

This album just plain rocks! The cd was smoking in my player by track two! So what if Pete Way's vocals don't appeal to every critic's taste. The whole vibe is about kicking butt and having fun doing it. I don't think Pete's vocals are all that bad. In fact, I find them quite humorous but the main reason to buy this is because Schenker is really in top form here and I think his performances will suprise even the oldest fans. It's that good! I know I got my money's worth

3.0 out of 5 stars Side project just for fun?, May 5, 2004
This review is from: Plot (Audio CD)
Michael Schenker and Pete Way...together again?
What's The Plot, and what kind of album is it?
Does it sound like UFO?

The Plot seem to be a side project to Michael Schenker's solo career and Pete Way's commitment to UFO. Together with drummer Jeff Martin, the legendary rockers have temporary (?) formed a three piece band, going for a different musical approach to what we're used to.

I have mixed feeling regarding this album. The rock `n' roll rebel in me like the raw and energetic style which is a blend of pub rock, punk rock, and classic rock `n' roll in Eddie Cochrane manner. My more sophisticated side think it all sounds like a bunch of drunken amateurs. Pete Way is handling the singing but he is not a great singer - sounding a tiny bit like Lemmy (Motorhead) from time to time. Although the material is raw and unpolished there is usually a melodic touch to many of the songs, something that makes me wonder how it would sound with a proper singer - maybe Phil Mogg.

If you expect The Plot to sound like UFO, you might be disappointed big time, but the the fuel injection that this album actually is, will most likely grow on you. Maybe you'll hear a bit of Quireboys, a bit of Little Caesar, and most certainly a lot of attitude.
