I bought this CD after hearing only one song from the Faders (No Sleep Tonight). Unlike so many CDs, I wasn't disappointed with most of the other tracks. It's a good "rockin'" CD with a few softer cuts.

This CD is fantastic. I am an Australian and have never heard of The Faders until I watched She's The Man. I Love Them!! The only disappointing thing is that the new single Look At Me Now is not included in the album, but perhaps there is a reason.
Either way you won't be disappointed, all the singles are great, Track 9 Strange Boy, is a personal fave.

I heard a couple of their songs on Veronica Mars, and I immediately had to find out more about them. There are very few songs here that aren't spectacular.

they have such potential for catchy yet throw-down music. a few really good tracks, but too many sissy girly songs for my taste.

It's a tragedy that this Pop/Rockin' trio didn't make it to the next round. I truley enjoy this album. The songs are all very catchy and easy to sing along to. Their sound reminds of (The Flirts) from the 80's and some Toni Basil goin' on! I'm also spotting a major 50's surf sound and 60's pop influence on a large portion of the album. Especially on songs like "Strange Boy"- "You Know You Should"- "I Don't Mean Maybe"- and "She Just Wants To Be Loved", How marvelous?!.
The Faders are not doing anything different from most of the other bands and solo artists that they'd be compared to. The difference when it comes to The Faders is that this band is doing it the way it should've been done so many times before- very cliche, I know. Many bands in this same genre lack the vocal texture of Molly (the lead singer), the lyrics that fit and rhyme together so well, the riffs, the hooks and are missing the melodies that can be found here on (Plug In And Play). Sure it's all the same style of music but this time it's just so appealing and enriched with such fun and cute melodies. There's the good, the bad and the best in every genre, and The Faders take the cake when it comes to their kind. Another thing that makes this band stand out from other female poprock bands and solo acts (in my eyes) is the vocals of the lead singer Molly Lorenne (Which I've already covered) who sounds dangerously close to the twiin sisters of the Veronicas. (Plug In And Play) is definitely one of the best of it's kind. It's crazy how so many others got the attention that these girls should have gotten. I guess one of the reason's they didn't get the spotlight is because of their image, Look at the artwork to the album. They're very ordinary, I think if they had a more distinctive look that wouldve carried them to new hieghts. The latest song from this band was released in 2006 and was titled "Look At Me Now". It was the first single from their followup to (Plug In + Play). The band split before the 2nd album was released due to creative differences along with the record lable molding the girls "So it just wasn't fun anymore". The lead singer Molly Lorenne began writing songs for her own solo project which has yet to surface- Some of her demos have leaked online. Don't let the artwork fool you, If you're into other girl bands like ---> The Friggs, The Like, Sahara Hotnights intertwined with The Veronicas, Lash, and Fefe Dobson... Git IT!!!

There is, admittedly, a bit of bubblegum ("Better off dead," for instance) in this group's output. Don't expect anything serious and complex. That said--so what?! It's an incredible amount of fun. Tracks like "Whatever it Takes," "Jump," and "Girls Can Make You Cry" are hard to stop whistling, and easy to love. Mixed up with rockers like "She Just Wants to Be Loved," this is a CD that provides uncomplicated, but hugely entertaining music.

I really enjoyed this album, particularly "No Sleep Tonight", which I first heard in the "My Super Ex-Girlfriend" movie. I recommend it!!

Possibly the greatest power-pop/rock album ever recorded, yet strangely only ever released in Indonesia, imported to the UK, and hardly made available anywhere else. I believe the plan was to make the album difficult to find so that people would buy the singles... but now, the album is just plain rare. Get it if you find it, there's more than just "Don't Sleep Tonight" and "Jump".
The Faders split up when the album was released, and since then Molly re-recorded "Don't Sleep Tonight" for the film My Super Ex-Girlfriend, and the bassist, Toy Valentine, has been making depressing sounding demos. Perhaps they'll rise to the heights of The Faders again, but they've got quite the album to compete with here. |
