Did you ever need another monitor on your computer? I use three on one of mine for reviewing and research work. It used to be that you had to buy an expensive VGA card and hope that your power supply had enough power to use it properly. If your power supply was too small or had the wrong wiring power wiring for a new GPU then you had to buy and install a new one of those also. Then you had to install drivers, software and configure things like AMD Eyefinity Multi-Display. Now you can plug in an adapter that is powered by the USB port and add up to 6 monitors to your computer. (With six adapters) and not even open the computer case. The drivers were automatically installed on my Windows 7 computer.

This adapter adds a VGA monitor to your computer into an existing USB3.0 or USB 2.0 communications port. It can work at speeds of up to 5 Gbps on a USB 3.0 port and at 480 Mbps on a USB 2.0 port. Installation is fast and easy with minimal set up. I have included a video to show you how to use this adapter.

This device also works on high resolution screens up to 2049 by 1152 pixels. It is compatible with Windows operating systems at this time. It does not support MAC or Linux Operating Systems.

In my case I have three monitors all 23 inch diagonal and set to 1920 by 1080 screen resolution. I am using a USB3.0 port on my computer and it is running perfectly. The adapter will operate on a USB 2.0 port but with the slower speeds you may have some issues with some applications like high intensity graphics or videos. On USB 3.0 I had no issues at all.

It is a very good product and it works well.

I bought a few days ago this adapter which was recommended directly by the support people from Plugable Technologies. After buying the adapter I received an email from them telling me to pre-install the software, which I did. Today I received the adapter, I just plugged in and it worked immediately and perfect. My computer is a Lenovo Yoga, which has no VGA port, so I am using the adapter for converting a USB 3.0 port into a VGA port. Now I have 3 screens at the same time with different contents in each one: 1- a Samsung LED 23" connected to the new VGA port, 2- a Samsung LED 23" connected to the HDMI port and 3- the laptop's screen.

It does work with mac OS X, as advertised by Amazon.
Note that the pictures online show that the box says "mac not supported at this time", which is actually what the box delivered reads.
Nevertheless, it does work after installing the newer driver from here:

After that it works quite well. One issue might be that there is a slight heating.

I am using this on an Dell 8300 (i7, 8 gig of RAM, Win 7). I forgot that my USB 3 ports were all in use & I ordered a 7 port USB 3 hub so right now, I'm not even at USB3 speed. Even using the 2.0 port, everything, including DVD playback, works great. I have Cerebral Palsy so it is hard for me to get on the floor, open the case & install a new video card. This product makes adding monitors about as simple as it gets. At least for me, it just worked. Installed the driver & plugged it in.

Plug and Play, connecting my second monitor to my Macbook Air. Love it. I received an email from the Manufacturer, shortly after the product was shipped, with a link for downloading latest drivers. The setup was plug and play.

After buying a new laptop, then discovering it didn't have a VGA port. I was disappointed. After purchasing this item, and using it for several days, I am very happy with my purchase. This device can actually support video resolutions much higher than my built in video card, allowing me to connect to monitors with better than HD resolution.

I tested this card on both a windows 7 and windows 8 system, and found the installation a breeze. You can just plug it in without installing the driver from the CD: as long as you have the option to download the latest drivers for hardware enabled. The display output is high quality, with no flicker, or other imperfections.

I tested the display under different conditions in Windows 8 and noticed that when playing a Netflix video in Google Chrome browser on an Intel I7 3rd generation @ 2.5Ghz. What I found was that the Display Link Manager process, which is essential the video driver for this product, was utilizing between 15% and 20% of my processor time. I'm not saying whether this is good or bad, it's just an observation. Remember, you are outputting video, through your USB 3.0 port, and something has to process all that data. I noticed no slowdown while playing the video. In summary, I was very impressed by performance of this device.

When not playing video, the CPU utilization of the driver was relatively low depending on the application on the VGA monitor. The more the screen changes, the higher the CPU has to work to render the video. The most video driver utilization was about 24%, but that was playing a video game, which normally you would probably want to do on your main screen.

Summary: The device is awesome especially if you have a newer computer and USB 3.0. I would highly recommend it!!!
