Have had one like this for 2 years in paperbook size. It shows no wear, even though it is used every day. I am looking foward to getting like usage out of this unit. Would recomend this to anyone wanting to protect their books as i do.

Every reader should have several,

This is a wonderful product. It protects both your book and your privacy. I realised I needed one when the incessant rain in Kamakura, near Tokyo, got through my seemingly waterproof backpack and messed up the book I had inside. I had already seen zippered book covers in bookshops in the US but hadn't yet bought one. I was then living in Hong Kong, where no such thing existed. I then hit upon the idea of recommending that Amazon.com (a life-saving service for English-language readers in Hong Kong, where there are few bookshops catering to their needs) sell them and promptly did so, suggesting that they put their logo on the outside. They said they would look into the idea and never mentioned my suggestion again. But they did eventually start selling Gregg Book Gear zippered covers in a range of colours and sizes on the Amazon.com site, albeit without the Amazon.com logo and without rewarding me for the suggestion. As soon as I noticed this, I happily bought a range of them to fit both hardback and paperback books, large and small. I have found them invaluable for holding books so that I can safely carry brand new or even quite ancient books on train, bus or plane without having to worry about them being crushed in my ubiquitous backpack or knocked by passers-by. The design is excellent: the fabric is elegant and pleasant to handle, while remaining waterproof (it probably wouldn't survive total immersion, but that is unlikely to happen anyway unless you are in a capsized boat) in all weathers. And I can read what I like without fear of offending anyone or arousing unwelcome curiosity. The bookmark is just the right length and when I have occasionally caught it in the zip (usually because of being caught up in a good book when the train has reached my station) it has not frayed. The book is safely held in the sleeves on either side and bends back effortlessly to allow an easy read. The only problem I have had is that the book cover may appear to some thieves to look as if it might contain money; I lent my wife a large size hardback version last month and it was stolen in a department store. Unfortunately, my efforts to replace it have so far proved fruitless, as Amazon.com now seems to stock a more limited range, and I don't actually want a plum-coloured or tapestry book cover, let alone one in distressed leather. I hope they will soon revert to the larger selection that they carried a couple of years ago. Judging from the favourable reaction I have received from fellow sufferers on London trains, there is a large untapped market for these superb zippered book covers.

I have have had the paperback size of the Gregg Book Cover (black) for almost 10 years. It is finally wearing out. I also have one for hard cover books (Bible size), but since I don't use it as much, it is not as worn. The only place I have ever seen the paperback size for retail sale is in airport book stores. I had hoped to find one here at Amazon, but I guess it has been a victim of its own quality. It seems they are out of production.I travel a lot and I have appreciated the privacy the cover offers as well as the excellent protection the water resistant nylon provides for the book. With this cover I can toss the book across the car or aircraft seat without worrying about dogeared pages or broken bindings. The nylon web carrying strap significantly eases management of the book while trying to wrangle suitcase, briefcase, and computer bag through busy airports. I know. I could just put the book in the briefcase but then there is the privacy issue every time I open the case, not to mention the opportunity to spill everything each time I balance it on a rail somewhere to store or retrieve the book. The attached book mark is very helpful and has saved me countless business cards. The flush zipper pocket on the outside doesn't provide room for much, but this is a book cover, not a handbag. It is ideal for securing baggage claim tags in a handy place for easy retrieval. The sizing is perfect. The 7x4.5x2 inch dimensioning fits a 1000 page paperback like a glove. Without any rigid frame, it is very convenient to store when there is no book in it. Just throw it in with the socks and such. I so wish these were still available. I found the "Black Nylon Book Cover Protection Case by Bond Street" and will probably order it. But, I don't expect to be as satisfied with it. It is larger than the Gregg (6 x 2 x 8.2 inches) and has 2 pouch pockets one zippered the other velcroed (for eye glasses). It also appears to have a rigid construction like a day planner. While I can see where it might offer some additional protection, it also adds weight and will make it more difficult to store
