In 10 appearances in 1997, Jake Plummer set Cardinal rookie passing records by completing 157 of 296 passes for 2,203 yards and 15 touchdowns. In his fourth NFL start, he set a rookie single-game record by passing for 388 yards, breaking the mark set by Troy Aikman. At the end of the year, he led the league with an average of 14 yards per completion. In 1998, he passed for 3,737 yards while starting all 16 games. Plummer also holds records at Arizona State University for completions, pass attempts and passing yards.

About the Author

Steve Schoenfeld has been a sportswriter for the Arizona Republic since 1988 and covers the Arizona Cardinals and the NFL. He has also contributed to Sports Illustrated and has written for the Dallas Times-Herald and Tulsa Tribune, covering the NFL, USFL, Big 8 and Southwest Conferences. This is his first book. A 1977 University of Kansas graduate, the 44-year-old Schoenfeld was born in St. Louis and currently resides in Tempe, Arizona, with his wife, Robin.
