It does clean up easily, though.

I tried a number of straws from various other products, but all of them were too large or too small to work with the nozzle of this product.

Anything more than a hard look and this stuff crumbles away.

Needed to fill some gaps after mounting an air conditioner in a window, so decided on expanding foam. It was between this and the brand Great Stuff.

Reading reviews of Great Stuff, it's much harder to work with (since it expands quite a bit), and clean-up is much harder/impossible (people who get it on their skin just have to wait for their skin to shed). Finally, Great Stuff is a more permanent solution, and is next to impossible to remove from a surface, short of sandpaper.

Ended up trying Daptex instead, and it works great. Easy to shape with tools and easy clean-up with water. The foam hardens to a consistency comparable to a stale marshmallow. Even when hardened, I was able to scrape it off surfaces with just my fingernail (useful, since I'm in a rental). On smooth surfaces (metal/plastic) it can be scraped off entirely, though on porous surfaces (wood), a faint white residue was left behind. It expands minimally, so the amount you place is the amount you get. Instructions says interior/exterior use, though it cautions exterior applications must be painted over with a latex paint.

If there's any downside, it's that it's hard to finish. It can be shaped roughly, but trying to sand it is like trying to sand, well, a stale marshmallow. Since I wanted a smooth surface to paint over, I placed some drywall/spackling compound over the Daptex, and sanded/painted that instead.

I bought this to fill in some gaps left by the installation of our Andersen patio doors, Andersen doors that don't come in stock sizes.
This Dap is white unlike the other popular foam in a can. It also has a longer drying time to allow for easier clean up and shaping.
I like that I was able to clean up overspray from the door frame five minutes or more after filling with just a wet paper towel.
Lots of foreboding cautions on the can, but I've survived to write this, at least.

I recently moved to a new apartment and noticed various insects coming into the apartment from the window (yuck! Even those with many legs which look very hairy). Upon inspecting the window, I noticed gaps between the net and the base of the window. After shaking extensively the bottle for one minute, I applied it on the gaps. It is easily removable at first (before it dries and hardens).

You have to be VERY gentle with the release trigger as it is very sensitive. It is also very important to have a screwdriver (or something very thin and long) so that you can clean the plastic "straw" so that the material won't dry inside.

After reading a positive review of this product, I decided to try it, but I found that low temperatures are the Achilles heel of this product.
Let me explain my experience with this product and you will better understand its limitations. I bought this product to fill a several dozen cavities about 2"x2"x3" to seal against possible water damage. The same day I bought it I applied it and after 48 hours it still had not hardened. I was careful to shake the can for one minute before using and apply the foam with the can in an upright position, yet the result was still the consistency of shaving foam two days later. One puff from your mouth and it would scatter in all directions even after waiting two days. If you put your finger in it to try to "machine" it the bubbles would pop like dish suds and it would be reduced to the consistency of cold oatmeal.
I called the company using the toll-free number on the can and read them the first six digits of the batch number 510099 and they said there it had been made on the 99th day of 2010, eight months earlier, and that there were no known bad product batches on that day. When I described the behavior of the product they confided that the this would happen if the product were stored or transported at 32 degrees causing it to freeze and to go bad.
I brought the can back to the store and explained what I learned to the manager. She directed me to place in the store with the freshest cans. The batch number on those cans started with 510280-a fresher batch made in September instead of April. I did an exchange at the customer service desk and this time I was smart enough to create a little three inch mound on a brick before trying to use the product. It was still the same consistency a day later as it was when it came out of the can.

I hate this product. My gf got it because she heard it was better than the Dow Chemical spray foam (which I've always loved and will continue to use) for insulating around windows and doors, but it's horrible. The first can she bought didn't expand at all and took forever to dry. Days latter, I cut into foam I sprayed and it was still liquid inside. Once it dried, it became a crumbly mess. Figured it was fluke, and she got another can a month later. This stuff didn't expand either, but seemed to dry faster, but was still fairly crumble if you poke at it or try to cut it. It also didn't seem to have a lot in the can for as much as it cost. I will never buy another can of this junk.

The Dap Tex Plus Window and Door Foam arrived quickly. I used it around my dryer vent outside and used it where I had to replace an old dog door with a new one and had a place that needed insulation.
