Plush Bamboo Chairmat, 47" x 51" with Lip, 12mm Thick Natural

I chose this Tri-Fold bamboo mat as a base for a chair that rolls on five hard plastic wheels, which I use at a large desk. My apartment has soft wall-to-wall carpeting (10 millimeters thick) that dents very easily from sustained pressure by table and chair legs, vacuum-cleaner wheels, etc. The Anji Tri-fold bamboo mat, which measures 12 millimeters thick, easily supports my weight atop the chair, which rolls smoothly on the mat without scuffing or gouging it. The mat also protects my carpet. It feels like a patch of quality hardwood floor, with nicely beveled edges. It has a semi-glossy finish that resists scuffing -- although minor dents and nicks have appeared in the mat's surface with sustained use of the chair atop it. The only functional drawback I've noticed is that, over time, my mat tends to shift slightly on my carpet. But I can easily slide it back into the optimal position with its lip centered under my desk. Although this bamboo chair mat costs far more than a standard vinyl chair mat, it has far better quality and appearance -- and I expect it will outlast most any vinyl mat.

When I first received this Anji bamboo mat, the backing material (bottom layer) had a strong chemical odor. So I stood the mat on its side for a day and night on my balcony, to let it out-gas. That eliminated the unpleasant odor.
