Not full size patterns,

This book is really cute, very creative! It's put together well and provides tons of inspiration along with many cute patterns.
However the book I picked up did not have full size patterns. It is required to copy and enlarge the patterns if you want to make the projects in the size the book gives dimensions for. The patterns are usable as they are to make tiny versions of each of the little creatures though. Just wanted to comment since I purchased the book based on the full size pattern comment and was a little disappointed to see that they still needed enlarged to do the projects in the size stated.

Great ideas for plush monsters!!,

This book is fantastic, bustling with imagination and creativity. It gives you patterns to create these weird little monsters yourself, or ideas to make your own creatures. I'm just learning how to sew, and its not the best book for beginners. You have photos of the toys, lists of materials, and patterns in the back of the books, but if there are any odd pieces, it doesn't really show you how to put them together. Additionally, you have to enlarge the patterns when you copy them, and it doesn't list what size. Other than a couple of negatives for the beginner, I highly recommend this book! I've been very entertained trying to put some gruesome googlies together!

Fun with sewing,

Imaginative and adventurous sewing, great projects to share with family ( mother/daughter projects). Quirky enough for preteens/teens and environmentally friendly, several projects are made with recycled clothing and/or materials. Anyone with a sense of humor would love one of these projects as a gift. The templates and ideas keep you thinking and planning more sewing projects. Great idea!!!!

Even if you don't sew or you do sew but don't even intend to make these critters, this is a way fun book! Buy it! Everytime I walk past it I'm absolutely compelled to pick it up and flip through it again.
Each creature is introduced with a description of their "personalities." Basic sewing instructions and patterns are provided. Short bios of the contributing crafts people are included. This book will make you grin no matter how down you might feel!

A book full of fun,
By
This review is from: Plush-O-Rama: Curious Creatures for Immature Adults (Paperback)
I had to have this book. It is so much fun. If you love to sew things that are just a little odd or kinda funky you need this book. There are 30 projects for fun plush creatures. Each creature has a materials list with instructions and full size patterns (no running to the copy place to enlarge, gatta love that). Want to know who came up with these cool designs? No problem at the end of the book you can read about a hand full of the designers. The beginning of the book talks about some sewing basics and explains the materials best suited for making plush creatures. Each project can be made by hand or machine. I can't wait to use this inspiration to create my own creature.

Couldn't help but get happy when I received this book. The instructions are clear - inspiring confidence and the creatures such a giggle and so expressive that they inspire images to jump up from a very personal space. Really a treat!

Super Cute,
This review is from: Plush-O-Rama: Curious Creatures for Immature Adults (Paperback)
This is a supercute book, I'm so glad I got it. I feel much more inspired to take on my own projects. The directions look pretty easy to follow, and I'm practically a beginner, I've not sewed since I graduated highschool.

Best plush book for experienced dollmakers,
By Aisling D'Art "artist and author" (Portsmouth, NH USA) - See all my reviews

I love this book. In fact, after giving a copy to my daughter, I realized that I had to own a copy, too.
One warning: This book is light on instructions. The patterns provide the general idea, but you'll need to enlarge them... and perhaps tweak them. But, for me anyway, that's the whole point of wonderful, expressive plush dolls and figures: They should be very personal, very informal, and utterly charming as a result. This book is ideal for experienced dollmakers, and imaginative beginners who want to create their own, unique plush figures. "Plush-o-Rama" is also perfect for people who collect whimsical and highly original handmade dolls and figures. (In other words, non-crafters will enjoy this book, too.) If you like structure, this book may be disappointing. It's still good but it's not written for people who need precise, full-size patterns and detailed instructions. If you want a book that sparks your imagination, and you're ready to wake up in the middle of the night saying, "Ooh, I have to sketch (or sew) that idea right now," you'll love this book. It's one of my favorites. When I moved from TX to NH, it's one of the few books that I hand-carried in my car. I rarely give a book a five-star review, but -- for me -- this one earned it.

Sew Fun!,

I was a disaster with needle and thread before reading this, and although this book is not a "how-to" for sewing, it does cover some basics. I recently got my first sewing machine and have been happy enough with the first three things I made (all from this book) that I gave them away as gifts (well liked!). That's a huge step forward!
The only thing I wish was different? Some of the creatures don't have patterns, you're supposed to free-hand draw them yourself. It takes some practice to get the size right to account for seam allowances, but it's not bad. That's why plush toys are so great.... there is a lot of room for imperfection. :) That said, if you're going to write a book, and include patterns, why not go all the way and include them for everything? Otherwise, I love this book! I would also recommend Softies: Simple Instructions for 25 Plush Pals if you like fun and whimsical creatures.
