Pluto can not believe it when he learns that he is no longer classified as a planet! He sets of to Earth to find those astronomers and give them a piece of his mind. Along the way he meets up with a special little boy that reminds him that no matter his size or title he still plays a big role in the Milky Way!

Very Cute!

My second grader has always been keen on astronomy and was quite upset to hear that Pluto was once a full-fledged planet that was downgraded to the status of a dwarf planet in 2006. "How dare they?" she exclaimed several times, and though she learned why at school, she was not happy about it.

We found this delightful title at our public library, and it is really cute. When Pluto finds out he has been relegated to dwarf planet status, he is not pleased and decides to visit Earth and give the humans a piece of his mind. Well, along the way, he comes across his other brethren, the ones that have hung on to their full-fledged planet status, but they are no help! Vain Saturn is too preoccupied with her rings, Jupiter is busy keeping tabs on his thirteen moons, and Mars is busy with an influx of Martians:-) You can imagine the chaos in the galaxy, but Pluto finally finds his way to Earth, only to discover that being a dwarf planet may not be such a bad thing after all.

I loved the message behind this story, and my daughter no longer feels bad for Pluto! This is a lighthearted read that can supplement a more academic approach to teaching basic astronomy and knowledge of planets to the young. Recommended for ages 4-8.

My son, having watched Magic School Bus, first learned of Pluto as a planet and although I knew in the back of my mind that Pluto was no longer considered a planet it never popped into the front of my mind to preemptively mention it. So when reading further about planets he discovered that Pluto wasn't a planet anymore, he was actually quite upset about it. This book was a sweet humorous way to show Pluto himself dealing with the demotion. it's still (hilariously) a touchy subject with my first grader but with this book's help, he's not lost his desire to learn more about space and the planets. (Whew!)

My young grandchildren loved this book when it arrived. They were 5 and 6. When we read it together it held their attention, which says alot. I even quizzed them afterwards, with success.

She learned about the planets, including the "demotion" of Pluto in pre-school. This book was a cute and fun way to reinforce these concepts. And bonus- she's reading to me now!

This is a really cute story where Pluto finds out he was reclassified as a dwarf plant and he comes to Earth to find out why. The book contains facts about Pluto's history with Earthlings including who discovered it, naming the planet, and the reclassification. My son is all about space and loved this story.
