More a storybook than a coloring book,
By labellepersonne (Midwest USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Pocahontas Coloring Book (Dover History Coloring Book) (Paperback)
There are pictures to be colored, but there is more story than pictures.
It is the familiar story of Pocahontas saving Capt. John Smith's life, and we get more John Smith than we do Pocahontas. We actually learn very little about Pocahontas or the Native Americans and their way of life, the primary focus is John Smith and the tribulations of the men at Jamestown. The illustrations are adequately drawn and I believe almost any age from 6 to older could color the pictures. I was a little surprised to see Pocahontas dressed in a mini-skirt in a couple of the illustrations - but perhaps they are historically correct - I do not know. |
