This is an anthology of Scottish quotations from the 13th century to the present day. The entries are arranged thematically, from advice to youth. The selection has been based on the principle that each quotation should stand by itself, as a miniature work of art. The book is cross indexed by author. Over 3000 quotations are included, and the author has used a vast range of reference material to ensure that every area is fully covered. There is much more emphasis on vivid and humourous quotations, sport and current affairs. Areas covered include: the Spirit of Scotland, costume, curses, transport, war, buildings, rivers, and death.
